Actors who refused the titles of national and honored: why they did it

The title of honored or national is a confirmation of the importance of an artist. Many coveted these regalia, except for those who got into our rating. Why the actors gave up titles and related benefits in the future, we invite you to find out further.

Victor Mamaev

This is not only an actor, but also a director. On his account, he has played about a hundred roles in cinema and theater, more than 40 staged performances. Fans of Soviet cinema are well aware that this wonderful artist, as a director, took part in the opening of the "80 Olympics".

It was Victor who had a hand in launching the bear up. Even those who are far from the sports world are familiar with these historical and impressive shots.

Mamaev really had a lot of merit, and in 1990 they wanted to confer on him the title of People's Artist of the Soviet Union. The actor declined the offer. The motivation was very simple: the country collapsed, it was no longer there, which means that the title was useless.

Veniamin Smekhov

Benjamin's story is very unusual. The artist, who became widely known for his role of Athos, worked in the Taganka Theater in parallel with filming a movie. There was a period when all members of the troupe were not allowed to take regalia. This was the principled policy of the leadership.

After the artistic director went abroad, the artists fell into disgrace of the Soviet government. For some time they were not given any regalia at all.

Many years later, Smekhov was offered to receive the title of honored one, but he refused. By that time, Benjamin was thinking in an unusual way. He explained that Pushkin was not a member of the Writers' Union, and Vysotsky did not have any prefixes for the word "actor", but these two people received popular love and recognition from several generations at once. It happened thanks to the talent.

According to Benjamin, only the recognition of talent by the viewer can be significant.

When Smekhov turned 70, government officials wanted to congratulate the actor with the title. The wife explained that with his convictions, such a gift would be offensive.

Leonid Yarmolnik

Yarmolnik also dealt with Vysotsky. He studied with him and even played with Vladimir on stage for several years. Now the artist recalls these years with great pleasure.

Leonid knows that Vysotsky was in disgrace and therefore did not receive any awards, but his fame spread far beyond the borders of the Soviet Union.

When Yarmolnik was 40 years old, he was offered to receive the title of honored one, but he refused, believing that the actor should be just an actor. The wife supported Leonid in this. Upon learning of the offer, she jokingly stated: if she receives the title, so that she does not come home.

After another 10 years, Yarmolnik was offered a "people's artist", and he again refused.

Dmitry Nagiyev

The name of Nagiyev is now heard. He is in the top of the most popular, most attractive, most talented actors in our country. Dmitry has impressive fees and many female fans. But there are no regalia.

Once the government wished to acknowledge the merits of Dmitry. They wanted to award him the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, but Nagiyev refused.

The artist is convinced that he is not doing anything special. Starting a new project, he sets the task - to do his job with high quality and nothing more. He doesn't need additional titles.
