Brad Pitt reveals that he had to quit smoking for his last role. According to the German magazine "Cinema", now the actor is very glad that he managed to get rid of this bad habit.

"I am happy that I managed to overcome myself - because tobacco kills slowly," says Brad. "But at first I missed my cigarettes terribly."

Pitt was forced to quit smoking for the role of Achilles in the movie "Troy", for which he had been preparing for several months.

"The process itself was so difficult that I was ready to tear and throw - but for the role of an ancient hero it turned out to be very useful."

The film "Troy", directed by Wolfgang Petersen and based on Homer's epic poem "The Iliad", tells the story of the siege of Troy by the Greeks. Screenwriter David Benioff - on the essence of the plot: "We will try to fully reveal the characters of the heroes so that they would be understandable to people. The scenes of the battle should reflect the confrontation of the characters, as Homer described it. There should also be shown the voyage of thousands of ships from Greece to Troy. Although that is all. and it takes time, we're not going to shoot a miniseries or trilogy for three hours. I had to cut out one of my favorite characters from the script because there is no place for this storyline in the film. Each adaptation requires hard choices - some part the plot still needs to be removed to the detriment of the other. In the case of "Troy" it was of great importance for me to show just the human story: Elena's love for Paris, the epic duel between Achilles and Hector, a deadly trap when Odysseus attacked the Trojans. The gods will not appear on the screen, but their presence will be felt everywhere and constantly and the influence is great"

Rehearsals and preparations took a lot of time and effort.

“The coach told me that I just couldn't train if I didn't part with my cigarettes - and he was right,” recalls Pitt. “Every day was just torture for me.”

Yes, the sacrifice is really great, especially if you remember that Pitt was an inveterate smoker and even on TV most often appeared with a cigarette.
