The film "Above the Sky" (2019) is distinguished by a gloomy plot, ambiguous reviews and reviews. If you want to get the most out of watching the melodrama directed by Oksana Karas, you will have to tune in in a certain way. Do not assume that this is a tearful story about the newly minted Romeo and Juliet, against whom all the circumstances are. Tears. Feats in the name of love. All this will be (even the romance of paragliding together). But … There is much more family drama in the film. More psychologism. The release date of the painting is June 27, 2019.

It turns out that the main reference here is not Shakespeare, but Turgenev. The problem of fathers and children. But this is not at all about the conflict of worldviews between generations. In the film, aspects of such relationships that are more relevant for our time are raised. At what point is a child's personality formed and custody becomes irrelevant? Where do parental rights end and child rights begin? How can an adult learn to let go of his child, not in the financial and legal sense, but in the moral and psychological sense? And what can happen if the breakup never happens?

The film tries to answer these questions, and not just sing the praises of the feeling, already sung by the lyricists of all times and peoples. Maybe it was just worth calling the film something else, so as not to mislead the audience?

To finally understand what kind of movie you are watching, decide who is the central character for you - the meek student Vasya Tikhonova (Taisia Vilkova) or her domineering mother (Victoria Tolstoganova)? By the way, film critics resolved this issue unanimously, awarding Victoria the Best Actress Award at the Kinotavr festival (2019).

“Katya Mavromatis and I were finalizing the script exactly in the direction of the mutual influence of adult lines on children and children on adults. Our movie is about this clash - about how powerful parents are in their manipulations with children, how much they have the right to dispose of their destinies. " Directed by Oksana Karas

Mom, dad, I'm not family at all

At the very beginning of the film, an 18-year-old girl, along with her sister (about the same age), father and mother, come to a boarding house near Moscow. The main character is here not only for the sake of relaxation. She will have to undergo a course of treatment. Vasya has a congenital heart defect. But, as it turns out later, everyone has problems here only with their heads …

Beautiful nature near Moscow. The sun is pouring down from the roofs of the wooden houses by the river. Dense meadows, where grasses just ask for a wreath. Dark thickets where it is easy to get lost. And the leitmotif sounds like the song of the popular singer Zemfira: "And the girl has been drunk for a day already." Our heroine, her sister (Polina Vitorgan) and their best friend Rita (Daria Zhovner) have finally "matured". Hence, there are so many erotic conversations and "near-erotic scenes" in the film "Above the Sky". Is the movie just about puberty? No matter how it is.

Our family does not suspect that His Majesty's chance will expose the hidden thoughts and unsightly secrets of some of them. And even the corpse of a man, who will endure the current in the first minutes of the film, is no worse than "skeletons in the closet."

See how everything is running. The mother surrounded her daughter with such care that she even washes her head in the shower (you cannot justify this with a heart defect). And with her beloved husband, she, apparently, had not had intimacy for so long that he falls in love with 19-year-old Rita. Rather, she falls in love with him with a couple of phrases and a snap of her finger.

Soon, the feelings of her husband (Alexey Agranovich) will become visible to the naked eye. Then the upset heroine of Tolstoganova will tell her daughter a monstrous phrase: “Why did you grow up? You were my little sick girl …”

Without revealing all the secrets of the film, let's say that a sick daughter is a means to keep her husband, who was already trying to leave the family. The second daughter, fortunately, is healthy, but her mother still strives to call her clumsy or clumsy. It grows in her a feeling of inferiority, and in her husband - a feeling of guilt. And all this in order to assert themselves at their expense. Literally feed on the psychic energy of your own relatives. Isn't it a seed for a thriller or a full-fledged detective? It is strange that the mother was not involved in the death in the camp, and would not rush at anyone with a knife.

Let me go

While the husband and wife, the homeless Rita and her young boyfriend are engaged in their love polyhedron, everyone seemed to forget about Vasya. And the girl, meanwhile, falls in love herself. But is this love?

Is her weird boyfriend so good with sudden fits of rage or eccentricity? (Shout your fears into the hollow. Whatoooooooo ??) Maybe the hero of Philip Avdeev is just a ray of light in the dark kingdom of his mother's manipulations. The only way to break out of the web. And even … fly away!

Philip plays from a wealthy family who can afford his own paraglider. He has been resting here for several years, and the heroine Vilkova is far from the first in the camp. What unites them is rather not a kindred spirit, but mental trauma. The guy is beaten by his own father (the one whose body scared the rest at the beginning of the film. But don't jump to conclusions).

And this is the most interesting thing. In Above the Sky, not only Vasya Tikhonova has strange relationships with her parents. There is also a boarding house guard, who nobly spends all his salary on the treatment of his mother. But he doesn't seem to have a family of his own. No wife, no children. Maybe my mother just didn't manage to “let him go” in time?

And Rita's parents have another extreme. They not only let the 19-year-old girl go to a country boarding house alone, but they are not interested in her during the film. This oddity will untie the hands of the hero of Alexei Agranovich (Vasya's father, a famous cartoonist)

The conclusions are disappointing. Adults take up education without solving their own psychological problems. Use children as a tool to achieve a goal. All this becomes a time bomb that can destroy even the strongest family. This is what the film "Above the Sky" is about.

In modern Russian society, as before, they do not like to go to psychologists, and they turn to lawyers only in case of extreme need. Many offenses continue to be categorized as "litter", which cannot be "taken out" in public. Maybe it's time to reconsider all this?

"Neshakespearean" denouement

In the finale, the daughter runs away from her mother "to all the devil" … To the end of the world. Forgive me for the strong word. In a word, he runs away, floats down the river, flies away. The father cannot stand it either. We will not reveal the main secret of a manipulator with experience, but watch the film carefully and decide how you would act in the place of the heroes?

And what about lovers? In the ending, it seems to both that fateful circumstances will not allow to be together, but, unlike Shakespeare's plot, the circumstances turn out to be far-fetched! Too snotty? You decide!

The film in simple and modern language (hence the age limit of 18+) tells about serious problems. It's a plus, as is good acting. But, at times, it seems that such stories are better perceived in the format of a television series. Watch the movie "Above the Sky" in cinemas from June 27, 2019, understand the intricacies of the plot, leave your reviews and feedback.
