Plastic addiction: why stars do it

Striving for perfection, including in terms of appearance, is a natural human trait. With the development of plastic medicine, the possibilities of people in this area have become almost unlimited. However, the availability and variety of such services also have a downside - having once asked for such help, there is a risk of becoming dependent on a scalpel and starting to turn to plastic at any opportunity.

This state of affairs is confirmed by numerous examples of movie and show business stars who have become victims of their own excesses in relation to operations.

Oleg Banizh, a world expert in the field of modern medical hardware techniques, who is among the top 10 injection lifting specialists in Europe and Saudi Arabia, tells about who is at risk when contacting plastic surgery clinics.

Who needs plastic?

There are undeniable reasons for contacting a plastic surgeon - traces of injuries and burns, scars, scars, getting rid of which objectively improves the patient's quality of life. In such cases, doctors may recommend surgery if they are confident that surgery is not contraindicated. In all other situations, the decision to resort to plastic is absolutely independent and is dictated exclusively by the desires of the person.

Statistics show that only 30% of all those who go to clinics have real aesthetic defects. The remaining 70% of patients decide to undergo surgery, guided by the desire to make their appearance more perfect or get rid of the signs of aging. In itself, the desire to look perfect is absolutely normal, the problem is rather psychological reasons that cause it. The real reasons that force men and women to correct their appearance with the help of surgery are: dissatisfaction with themselves, low self-esteem, inability to accept themselves. It is they who eventually become the key factors in the formation of plastic addiction.

How does plastic addiction appear?

Mickey Rourke, Jocelyn Wildenstein, Sergei Zverev - each of these famous personalities serves as a clear example of the fact that plastic addiction is not an empty phrase.

Almost all stars turn to surgeons to look younger, slimmer and more attractive, but many of them lose their sense of proportion and turn, like the "catwoman" Jocelyn Wildenstein or Donatella Versace, into a frightening parody with disproportionately huge cheekbones and lips, an unnatural cut of the eyes and baby pink, shiny skin.

The stars are always in sight, which is why we are so well aware of their problems, although plastic addiction "amazes" not only the mighty of this world, but also the most ordinary people. There are several reasons for this, and among them there are both psychological and physiological factors.

1. Endorphins

Plastic surgery is stressful for the body, and like any serious shock, it causes an adrenaline rush and increased production of endorphins. As a result, after the procedure, patients feel happy and in an uplifted state of mind. Usually, after the recovery period, the body returns to normal, and most people simply forget about the operation. However, sometimes this feeling of happiness is so remembered by a person that he decides to again resort to the surgeon's scalpel in order to return it.

Such a problem can be viewed not only as physiological, but also as psychological - such "endorphin addiction" is not much different from drug addiction.

The usual level of happiness is perceived by a person painfully and makes him look for ways to return that special state that was after the operation, and for this it is easiest to resort to the already proven method.

2. Dissatisfaction with yourself

The inability to accept oneself, including one's own age-related changes, makes a person think that his life will worsen if his appearance is not the same as in his youth.

This problem very easily develops into plastic addiction, especially in the case of a successful operation. The patient expects an immediate increase in happiness. If his life has improved, he will turn to the surgeon again to make it better and better, and if not, then operations will be needed to still achieve the desired result.

Unfortunately, no matter what efforts surgeons make, they will not be able to help people of this type - with any result, a person will not be satisfied until he starts looking for a problem within himself, and not in his own appearance.

3. Fashion trends

People always look up to the generally recognized standards of beauty of their time, and the more rapidly they change, the more often a person will turn to plastic in order to improve himself in accordance with the current standard.

Other extremes are also possible - the fame of Barbie and Ken has not faded for half a century, and some of their fans achieve (not without the help of surgery) almost shocking results in the desire to be like their favorite toys. The most famous examples of this are Valery Lukyanov's “Odessa Barbie” and the late Kelso Santibanes, who, as a result of numerous operations, has become practically indistinguishable from Ken.

How do you know if you are prone to plastic addiction?

The first and surest sign that a person is addicted to a scalpel is unwillingness to hide the fact of surgery. The purpose of plastic surgery is to eliminate the defect, but as soon as the process turns into a sport and requires new achievements and conquered heights, it can be argued that the patient has acquired plastic addiction.

There are other signs of emerging addiction:

  • choice in favor of surgery, even if there is a risk of complications or alternative ways to obtain the same result;
  • rejection of "long" methods (sports, diet, massage, creams, etc.);
  • from the possible options for plastic surgery, the patient chooses the one in which the changes will be striking.

The decision to make an operation must be balanced and deliberate. Only in this case the surgeon's efforts will lead to a result that will not only satisfy the patient, but also make his appearance truly harmonious and beautiful.
