Today, every fourth Russian has his own car. According to analysts' forecasts, by 2025, almost every second person will have it. Until this happened, the townspeople spend an average of 1.5 hours a day on public transport. Those who use public transport on a daily basis suffer from transport fatigue - loss of productivity due to prolonged use of transport. The time spent in the stuffy morning in the stuffy subway car or the bus cabin in constant attempts to maintain balance is exhausting no worse than aerobics in the heat. What if the limit of transport fatigue exceeds 45-50 minutes? This question will be answered by Yegor Safrygin, Marketing Director of the Medicine division of AlfaStrakhovanie.

How long does it take to be on the road?

According to experts, the maximum time spent on the road should not exceed 45 minutes. Further, the body begins to literally wear out from exhausting noise, gas pollution, stuffiness and shaking. Dust, dirt, electromagnetic radiation, sudden acceleration and deceleration, rocking of a subway car or a bus cabin have a negative effect on the body as a whole. Artificial lighting is harmful to the eyes.

In the summer, the discomfort is aggravated by the office dress code, which even in summer obliges you to wear suits and ties.

After a couple of months of daily trips of at least two hours a day on public transport, especially underground, a person develops chronic transport fatigue, which can cause a progressive feeling of discomfort, apathy, various pain sensations in the body, and a bad mood. It can lead to hypertension, cardiovascular disease, neurosis, depression, etc.

Fatigue is handled differently

Women are most susceptible to traffic fatigue. This is due to several factors: not only with the characteristics of the female body and the fact that the fair sex is generally less hardy, but also with the total number of worries that lie on women's shoulders, including family ones, as well as with the desire of women for beauty - heels, tight clothes, not always natural fabrics. Men also experience discomfort in public transport. In the summer period, it is aggravated by the office dress code, which obliges people to wear suits and ties even in summer.

How to protect yourself from transport fatigue, which is typical for all large cities?

Tip # 1

Try to spend less time in transport. Don't be lazy to walk anymore. If the distance does not exceed twenty to thirty minutes on foot, it is better to take a walk. This walk will energize you in the morning and relieve stress in the evening. This is especially useful for sedentary office workers.

Council number 2

Choose the least “harmful” mode of transport. If the choice is between tram and metro, feel free to buy a ticket for ground transportation. Are you afraid of waiting at a bus stop and traffic jams? Ground transportation runs on schedule, and traffic jams are minimized by dedicated lanes for public transport.

Tip # 3

Try to spend your weekends actively. Sports activities in the fresh air, a family picnic are suitable. Do not get carried away with alcohol, try to eat healthy foods. Communicate with friends and family, gain strength. Change your usual routes, walk more in parks, relax outside the city.

Tip # 4

If you can't manage to shorten the time spent on public transport, you need to do everything in order to feel as comfortable as possible. Avoid heels and wear comfortable clothes made from natural fabrics. In hot weather, try to use cosmetics in moderation: in a stuffy, crowded space, a sticky film on the skin will give an additional feeling of "stale". Use thermal water, it refreshes, cleanses and moisturizes the skin.

Do everything to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Avoid heels and wear comfortable clothes made from natural fabrics.

Feel free to ask for a seat if you are not feeling well. Be sure to take your medications with you if you suffer from any chronic medical conditions. In hot weather, take water with you.

Council number 5

Violation of personal space in transport is common. Choose less crowded areas of the salon. Try to get up in ground transport near the window, do not crowd at the exit. Buy headphones with good noise isolation and listen to pleasant music, but do not overdo it with the volume. In the subway, for example, where the noise level can reach 90 decibels, an extra load in the form of screaming music is useless.
