Many girls visit beauty salons every day to build their nails. "The longer, the better," they assure. Just do not forget how closely the beautiful borders on the ugly. American Lee Redmond has been growing nails for almost 30 years. Today their length reaches 84 centimeters.

A resident of Salt Lake City has stopped caring for her nails since 1979. Such "inaccuracy" was included in the last issue of the Guinness Book of Records.

Her record is officially registered as "longest fingernails". Moreover, Lee assures those around her that almost one meter long nails absolutely do not interfere with her cooking, cleaning and caring for her husband suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Redmond even manages to shave his spouse with a sharp blade, never injuring him.

After she got into the book of records, she began to take good care of her nails: “To maintain their shape, I am on a diet high in protein, which is required for hair and nails,” she said. “I brush them with a toothbrush when they get dirty and I do my nails all the time. Once a week I also give my nails a bath of warm olive oil and a special strengthening solution."

A woman is really proud of her nails, and would never want to part with them in her life. However, in November, Lee's record will be sheared with her own hand. The fact is that the condition of her husband Redmond is getting worse every day. Therefore, he needs more careful care. This is one of the reasons for the decision. There are two more:

"I love my nails," admitted Redmond, "but I admit that they look very unusual. I am very unpleasant when they sometimes scare small children."

Well, the third reason for the destruction of the longest nails was suggested to the woman by journalists. At one of the press conferences she was asked how she goes to the toilet. Redmond replied with a sad smile: "Very carefully. And this is a big problem for me."

Well, until November, Lee has a whole week left when she can still be proud of her nails. It is strange that she thinks they are beautiful. Perhaps natural beauty is better than any artificial one, but a two-centimeter false nail clearly looks much prettier on a lady's finger than its own, almost one-meter. By the way, in none of her interviews did Redmond ever mention what size her toenails are?
