Duet Tatyana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov became the best in the short pair program (83, 79). Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov scored the highest result - 135, 09 points - in the free program.

Yulia Lipnitskaya became the youngest champion of the Winter Olympics, winning the title at the age of 15 years 249 days.

The winners were personally congratulated by the head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The president was very happy and even hugged young Lipnitskaya. “You can skate with such a team for another ten years,” noted Evgeny Plushenko, who is considered a veteran in Sochi. By the way, Plushenko also mentioned that he does not exclude the possibility of his participation in the 2018 Olympics. “How old will I be in 2018? Thirty five. Before me at that age, probably no one came to the Games. But why not? Maybe it's worth a try,”RBC quotes the athlete.

The gold won by the skaters was the first for the Russian Olympians in Sochi. Earlier on Sunday, Russian speed skater Olga Graf won a bronze medal in the 3000m distance, while biathlete Olga Vilukhina won silver in the sprint race.
