The singer has been waiting for a donor kidney for several years. An organ suitable for transplantation must match at least twelve indicators. This is more difficult than winning a million in the lottery, the domestic media say. The donor organ transplant operation (doctors confirmed that it was taken on the territory of Russia) was carried out by Professor Yan Moysyuk.

All the next touring performances of the Lyube group have been postponed to a later date, because Nikolai will need some rehabilitation period.

According to one version, Rastorguev's kidneys could not withstand the frenzied rhythm of the artist's life, when he endured all diseases on his feet, self-medicating and swallowing painkillers. At one time, the singer flatly refused the option when someone close to him donates his kidney to a loved one. Nikolai also refused to use his name and connections to speed up the process of finding an outside donor. “I don’t want to focus on illness. Don't let fans worry about my health. The main thing is my creativity. And I will deal with my health myself,”he said.
