Until recently, it was believed that most women think about shopping more than sex. But not all purchases are equally enjoyable. As scientists unexpectedly discovered, the purchase of some items of clothing can unsettle the fair sex for a long time. And especially often there are nervous breakdowns on the eve of the swimming season.

Finding, trying on and buying the right swimsuit can be daunting stress. This is the conclusion reached by experts from Flinders University following a survey of more than a hundred girls.

Experts from the University of Manchester have found that bras that visually increase breast volume significantly increase women's self-esteem. According to psychology professor Geoff Beattie, women who prefer push-up models are 73% more likely to smile, and movements that indicate insecurity (grabbing their chin, rubbing their foreheads) are 64% less likely. Women from this group are also 41% less likely to look away and hide their eyes. Who else doubts the noticeable effect of clothing on our psyche?

As the head of the study, professor of psychology Marika Tiggemann, explains, the mere thought of the prospect of trying on bikinis for women aged 18 to 29 caused a lot of negative emotions, and some even ruined the mood for the whole day.

Experts believe that glossy magazines and aggressive advertising imposing model standards on girls are to blame for everything. “Apparently, the swimsuit is associated with a negative and stressful experience for most of the fairer sex. The reason is that few of them can compete with the ideal of beauty accepted in society. And fitting rooms in stores are not equipped in the best way: large mirrors and bright lighting are usually annoying,”Tiggemann quotes Meddaily.ru.
