Scientists have identified the main parameter of female beauty, which has been liked by men throughout human history. This is a thin waist. The Times writes about this.

According to the publication, such a conclusion was reached by a group of researchers led by Devandra Singh from the University of Texas at Austin. Researchers identified the standards of female beauty by analyzing 345,000 literary works, most of them written between the 16th and 18th centuries. In addition to a large amount of British and American literature, some monuments of Indian and Chinese romantic poetry from the 1st-6th centuries AD were also investigated.

According to scientists, a thin waist is a clear sign of a woman's health and fertility, due to the high levels of estrogen in the body. Obesity, on the other hand, indicates low estrogen levels and increased susceptibility to disease, so the slimmer a woman, the more attractive she is to men.

Lips like a tiny rosebud and a milky complexion were once the ideal of beauty, and the high cheekbones that are praised today were considered ugly in the Victorian era. A couple of centuries ago, fullness was a sign of beauty, now slimness is in fashion.

A narrow waist has always been considered beautiful. Men have also admired breasts, legs, hips, and fullness throughout history. Buttocks and slenderness were much less common, according to a study published by the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society.

Men usually treat the female breast as something associated with romance and eroticism. But the study found almost no mention of what shape it should be. Some wrote about small breasts, others about large ones. Rounded breasts were most often mentioned.

Here are some of the texts that scholars have analyzed:

“My love is one of a kind; no one can compare with her, because she is the most beautiful of women … Gold is nothing compared to her hands, and her fingers are like lotus flowers. Her buttocks are full, but her waist is narrow. Just passing by, she stole my heart."

Ramses II about Queen Nefertiti (1300 - 1250 BC). Written on her grave.

"Her skin and teeth should be clear, bright and tidy … / Large breasts, large thighs, large distance between the eyebrows / Narrow mouth, small waist."

Sir John Harington (1561-1612).

"A beautiful woman … There was no person in Chu's palace who did not admire her slender waist."

Su Ling (507 - 583).
