More than a hundred beauties from all over the world are preparing for the finals of the Miss World 2015 beauty contest. The name of the winner will be announced on December 19, but for now the girls are going to the island of Hainan, where the competition will take place this year. And a scandal has already broken out. One of the contestants, 25-year-old Anastacia Lin, winner of the Miss Canada title, has been banned from entering China.
The Chinese authorities denied the girl a visa because Lin was too active in promoting human rights and religious freedom in China. Anastacia waited for several weeks to be allowed to enter the country. On November 25, she flew to Hong Kong (Xianggang, PRC Special Administrative Region) hoping to obtain a visa at the border. However, the girl was not allowed into China.
Sofia Nikitchuk, a student from Yekaterinburg, will represent Russia at the Miss World 2015 contest.
“I have every right to participate in the competition. I am a student and a beauty queen. Why are they afraid of me? - Lin is indignant on social networks. The girl added that she was disappointed, but not at all surprised.
The Chinese Embassy in Ottawa declined to comment on the visa refusal. At the same time, the diplomatic mission said that "China will not allow persona non grata to enter the country."
Lin was born in China and moved to Canada at the age of 13. The girl harshly criticizes the religious policy of the PRC, being a representative of the spiritual movement "Falun Gong", which has been banned in China since 1999. In July 2015, at a hearing in the US Congress, Lin said that members of the movement were being tortured in China.
