On February 27, many music lovers were stunned by the decision taken by the National Public TV and Radio Company of Ukraine. Its representatives, who selected the participants for the Eurovision 2019 contest, said that the country will not be represented in Tel Aviv this year. The main reason for the refusal is the political games of those in power.

The main contenders for participation in Eurovision 2019 from Ukraine were:

  • singer Maruv;
  • the group "Freedom Jazz";
  • and popular in Russia "Kazka".

During the selection of applicants, the facts of performances of artists in Russia began to surface. In this regard, representatives of the National Public Television and Radio Company proposed at the legislative level to prohibit Ukrainian artists from giving tours or private concerts on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The performers, whose songs were popular not only in their homeland, but also in the neighboring country, were outraged by the interference of politicians in the music industry. At the end of February, the main contender, Maruv, announced that she considered such demands absurd. It is for this reason that she does not want to take part in the competition. The singer was outraged that they were trying to make her one of the weapons of political battles.

The performer was supported by many representatives of the stage not only in Ukraine, but also in Russia. For example, Natasha Koroleva expressed the hope that Ukraine will finally see its light and see what an outrageous outrage the "pretenders, liars and thieves" who are in power have done.

In defense of Maruv, also spoke out: Vladimir Zelensky, Ivan Dorn, Potap, Maxim Fadeev, Andrey Razygraev, and many others.

Interestingly, after the girl, the other applicants refused to participate.

The organizers of Eurovision 2019, for their part, have already adopted a statement from Ukraine. They noted that they would be delighted to see the country next year.
