Hormonal contraception can prevent a woman from choosing the perfect partner, British scientists say. As experts explain, women find "their" man by smell. “His” means genetically different from her as much as possible. This is necessary so that they have strong and healthy offspring.

It turned out that hormonal contraceptives drown out a wonderful female scent for an ideal man. The consequences of this can be very different. For example, a girl will meet a man with very similar genes. The chances of getting pregnant from it will be extremely low. And even if everything works out, the baby will be born frail and sick. If such a woman stops taking pills during a relationship, her sense of smell will sharpen again and she will realize that she has chosen the wrong one. The consequence of such an unexpected insight usually becomes parting or betrayal, writes "AiF". In the best case for a man, his companion will understand that she no longer loves, but out of a sense of duty, she will remain with him and will suffer all his life.

British scientists remind: in order to identify her chosen one, a woman needs to smell his sweat.

The researchers even conducted a special experiment. They asked several men who do not wear deodorants or perfumes to sweat a little, and then put their T-shirts in special containers with holes. 100 women were asked to sniff the sweaty clothes, and for reliability, the experiment was repeated three times over several months.

It turned out that the girls' impressions changed dramatically after they started or, conversely, stopped taking the pills.

By the way, even earlier, doctors noticed that in many childless couples the husband and wife have very similar gene sets.

What's more, analyzes have shown that women who take hormone pills are attracted to the scent of men with similar genes. Those that are least physiologically suitable for them. However, doctors are still in no hurry with calls to categorically abandon contraceptives. They point out that spiritual and emotional closeness in a couple can be much stronger than physiological attraction.
