Laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR and the Presidential Prize in Literature and Art, Boris Natanovich Strugatsky was born on April 15, 1933 in Leningrad, returned here after evacuation, graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Leningrad State University with an astronomer diploma, worked at the Pulkovo Observatory; since 1960 - a professional writer. After the death of his elder brother Arkady Natanovich, Boris Strugatsky published two novels under the pseudonym S. Vititsky: "The Search for Destiny, or the Twenty-Seventh Theorem of Ethics" (1994-1995) and "Powerless of this World" (2003), and also prepared detailed "Comments on the past ", that is, to works written in collaboration with his brother.
