Scientists from McGill University have found that men who have about the same length of index and ring fingers are more pleasant in communication with women and less prone to scandals compared to men with different length of fingers.
The study involved 155 people. For five minutes, the subjects communicated with each other, and according to the results of each single conversation, the participants filled out the appropriate questionnaires, where they rated their interlocutor.
During the study, experts calculated the ratio of the length of the ring finger to the length of the index finger. And they found that the closer this attitude is to one, the less aggressive in a conversation with a woman (but not a man) the representative of the stronger sex turned out to be. And vice versa: the greater the deviation from unity in relation to the lengths of the fingers was observed in men, the more conflicting they were, and this was observed in a conversation with representatives of both sexes, writes Lenta.ru. Moreover, a similar correlation between the ratio of the lengths of the fingers and the ratio to the opposite sex was not found in women.
According to the researchers, the ratio of the lengths of the fingers may indicate the level of testosterone in a man: the smaller the difference in the length of the index and ring fingers, the more hormone. But psychologists at the same time note that the hormonal background of the body can change throughout life. Also, the features of the behavior of men associated with the length of the fingers, psychologists associate with the hormonal development of the fetus in the womb.
