Holidays celebrated in August

Those who will be working in August do not have to count on extra days off when planning a short trip with family or friends, as there are no non-working calendar holidays this month. You can rest only on official weekends - Saturday and Sunday.

Professional holidays are celebrated in August:

• Collector's Day - August 1;
• Airborne Forces Day - August 2;
• Athlete's Day - August 14;
• Archaeologist's Day - August 15;
• Officer's Day - August 21;
• Miner's Day - August 29.

In addition to professional holidays, in the last month of summer there will be an important public holiday - the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, which falls on August 22.

All professional holidays are celebrated on a large scale by representatives of these specialties. Particularly popular is the Day of the Airborne Forces, which is widely celebrated throughout the country by those who served in the airborne troops.

On this day, parades of former paratroopers, various events, demonstrations and festive concerts are held in many cities. It is customary to lay flowers at the monuments to the soldiers who died for the Motherland and to honor the memory of the paratroopers who died during the military service.

On the day of the athlete, mass races, demonstration competitions and other sports events are usually held, in which anyone can take part. The officer's day is celebrated by representatives of the officer and senior command personnel of all power structures.

The branch holiday - Miner's Day is celebrated with the same scope. Usually it is very brightly celebrated in those regions where representatives of this dangerous profession work.

On the Day of the State Flag of Russia, events are held in all cities of the country, including an official part and a festive program. The evening of August 22 ends with the beloved spectacular spectacle - fireworks.

At the end of summer, there are many Orthodox holidays, which have deep traditions and are celebrated by many Russians at home. In the last summer month, there is the most beloved Orthodox fast - the Assumption, which is associated with the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos. This fast lasts only two weeks (from the middle to the end of August), but at the same time it is not perceived by believers as a stern self-denial of worldly joys.

Working days and days off August 2021

In order to plan their leisure time at the end of summer, representatives of professions whose professional holidays fall in August can already count their work and weekends this summer month.

The new production calendar, approved by the Ministry of Labor, contains working hours in August next year. There are 31 days in total this month. Of the total number of calendar days in August, 22 days will be working days. There are only 9 days off and they fall on Saturdays and Sundays.

By law, the 8-hour working day before a non-working holiday must be reduced by 1 hour. But since there are no non-working holidays in the last month of summer, all working days will be full.

In the beginning of autumn every year the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population publishes a new draft of the production calendar. The whole country works and lives on this grid. According to the law, if a non-working holiday coincides with a calendar weekend, then the latter must be postponed to the next working day.

This creates a long holiday break, during which you can organize a vacation with your family or friends. Usually, non-working days are transferred from long winter to spring holidays, which are formed during calendar holidays:

• New Year;
• February 23;
• March 8;
• The 1 of May;
• 9th May

There are no non-working holidays in August, therefore, additional non-working days are never transferred to this month to evenly distribute working and non-working hours throughout the year.

From this year, December 31 officially becomes a non-working day, so the number of non-working days for the New Year is increasing.

The new calendar grid provides as many as 7 transfers, but none of them fall in August.
