Sweet vermicelli

Ingredients:

200 g vermicelli, preferably 15 cm long

350 g sugar

400 ml water

4 tbsp. l. melted butter

10-12 cardamom pods

500-600 ml of milk

a pinch of saffron

1-2 tbsp. l. chopped almonds

1-2 tbsp. l. chopped pistachios

some lemon juice

Cooking method:

1. Pour the required amount of water into a saucepan, add sugar and put on fire. Boil.

2. In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add noodles and cardamom. Cook over medium heat, stirring the vermicelli until it evenly changes color to golden brown.

3. As soon as the color of the vermicelli changes, pour in the sugar syrup. Simmer for 15 minutes until the water evaporates, stirring constantly.

4. Add milk and bring to a boil. Add a little lemon juice (this will help the vermicelli absorb the milk). Continue cooking (stirring occasionally).

5. Add saffron, almonds, pistachios. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.

6. Serve after the noodles have cooled slightly (tastes best only 20 minutes after cooking).
