And even detective riddles and those there are somehow more fun and soulful to solve. The heart sings from the spaciousness, the ingenious borscht of the local cook Claudia and from the gaze of an eccentric young poetess with a strange name Angel … This is us about Tatiana Ustinova's new novel "Selfie with Destiny" - away from the hateful scenery, forward to the village!

The reader gets to the village of Sokolnichye together with the professor of physics Ilya Subbotin. A city dweller and a kind of refined intellectual, he has a strange hobby: solving crimes. And he comes to Sokolnichye to find the murderer of a rich lady, whose corpse was found not somewhere, but right in the souvenir shop "Folk Craft", among embroidery and lace. He comes for a reason, but at the invitation of the director of the local House of Creativity - Oleg Pavlovich, whom the villagers will not get enough of. Thanks to him, Sokolnichye healed a new life: he built many museums, restored the bell tower, paved the square, planted trees - now tourists are cutting down the only way! Where else can you find the Museum of Russian Entrepreneurship or the Museum of Musical Phenomena?

Ilya Subbotin settles in the House of Creativity - a favorite resting place for writers and artists, another project of the indefatigable Oleg Pavlovich. And here we are already waiting for a kaleidoscope of modern types, which Ustinova, as always, portrays funny and accurately. An Internet poetess in dreadlocks, remembered by an Angel, who is glued to Subbotin like a bath leaf. An elegant and mysterious lady with a sad look, about whose fate we have a lot to find out. A nervous and possibly crazy shaggy man with memory gaps that no one takes seriously (but in vain!). An elderly, smartly dressed gentleman with a conservative outlook on life. A young couple, Lilya and Vanya, who look more at the screens of smartphones than at each other, and speak strange slang - they are all startups, briefings, likes and streaming.

Urban characters look terribly comical against the background of the locals - all the same, you get imbued with everyone, and to both. Claudia the cook, who is called to work by the capital's best restaurateurs. A taxi driver who is proud of the title of "staff" and is always willing to share fresh gossip. A grandmother from the Gorokhovykh Trade store, sticking her nose everywhere. A rural guide who tries very hard to impress guests with knowledge and erudition.

During the fireworks of hilarious situations, it is important not to forget the main thing: all these wonderful characters are under suspicion! What if one of them is the killer? For example, a girl for whom our detective seems to have tender feelings?
