More detailed information on the number of days off and holidays can be found in Article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. This law does not include the name "New Year's holidays", but still there is a list of non-working days:

• January 1 - Russian citizens will celebrate the New Year (official holiday);
• from 2 to 6 January - official days off according to the production calendar;
• January 7 - Nativity of Christ;
• January 8 is an official day off.

Holidays in January 2021 will be two full days longer than in 2020. In the past, December 30 and 31 fell on weekdays (Monday and Tuesday). Therefore, Russian citizens had to go to work, although on the last day of the month they could have left an hour earlier.

The State Duma has repeatedly considered the issue of making December 31 an official day off. On the last day of the year, the atmosphere of the upcoming New Year holidays reigns at every workplace in the Russian Federation, which is not conducive to work.

This initiative of the deputies was rejected in 2019. If no changes are made to the Labor Code, then December 31, 2020 will be a regular working day. But on the eve of the New Year, the working day will be reduced by 1 hour - this rule is spelled out in the Labor Code.

In addition, there will be no postponement of business days in January, as no New Year's holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday.

So, if you count, then in total in January it turns out as many as 16 days off. Thus, we will rest this month from 1 to 10, inclusive, after which we will have official days off from 16-17, 23-24, 30 to 31.

How many Orthodox holidays will there be in January 2021

At the beginning of 2021, Orthodox believers on the territory of the Russian Federation will celebrate the following holidays:

• 2021-07-01 - Nativity of Christ;
• 2021-14-01 - Circumcision of the Lord;
• 2021-19-01 - Baptism of the Lord.

It should also be remembered that the Nativity Fast will last until January 6 inclusive, which begins on November 28 every year.

How many working days will be

There will be only 15 working days in the first winter month. In addition, the following working hours have been established for January 2021:

• 72 hours will work in January, those citizens who work on a reduced schedule: their working regime lasts 4, 8 hours with a 24-hour work week;
• if a person works 7, 2 hours a day and 36 hours a week, in January he will have to work 108 hours;
• with a 40-hour week, a person will work 120 hours in January.
