Everyone is looking forward to the New Year holidays, as long weekends are expected with them. What the Government of the country has prepared for the citizens of Russia these days, you can already find out from the calendars. They give answers to all questions - how we rest in December 2018 and how we rest in January 2019. The government's decisions are already ready to postpone the holidays, which will fall on the calendar weekend.

But even before the new year, many Russians are waiting for the forgotten holiday of the Constitution of Russia, which is celebrated on December 12, 2018. In the outgoing year, it will be on Wednesday, a regular working day. The Day of the Constitution of the Russian Federation is a solemn day for all Russians. The new Constitution was adopted by an all-Russian referendum on December 12, 1993, and in 1994, a presidential decree declared it a day off, a holiday of national importance.

However, already in December 24, 2004, the State Duma amended the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, and since December 12, 2005, it has become an ordinary working day, despite an important state celebration.

How Russians relax in December 2018

Statistical services, based on the results of a survey of Russian citizens, provide official data. 71% of citizens would like to relax during the New Year holidays offered by the government, and only 20% of Russians opposed the long holidays.

Before New Year's celebrations, Russians in December will have 21 working days and calendar official days off - 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 30. Catholics living in Russia will celebrate their Christmas on December 25, Tuesday. But from the 29th, the transfer of working days begins according to the law. December 29, Saturday, will be a working day.

However, according to Art. 95 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, this is a pre-holiday day, so it is reduced by an hour. The very same Saturday is postponed to Monday, December 31st.

So the Government of the country gave the Russians two days off before a troublesome and cheerful celebration - December 30 and 31. They come in handy for the New Year's preparations: in the kitchen, each hostess gets time for the pre-holiday chores.

January holidays 2019: how many days

On December 31, not to work is an additional New Year's gift to the whole country from the Government of Russia.

At the same time, the norms of working hours in December according to the main production calendar remain observed:

  • 40-hour week - 167 hours, 21 working days with a shift duration of 8 hours; 36-hour week - 150.2 hours;
  • 24-hour week - 99.8 hours.

It is worth considering that not all members of the Chambers of Government liked the initiative of the long New Year holidays. They are based on the calculations of the tripartite commission that regulates social and labor relations. According to them, a calendar of official working days, days off, and holidays has already been approved for 2019.

According to this calendar, the number of working days in 2019 will be 247, weekends - 118. January transfers violate these calculations to some extent.

Officials are against 10 days off, since according to their calculations, during the holiday of Russians, the country's economy will not count more than 10 billion rubles. On this basis, G. Onishchenko calls to go to work from January 2, from the beginning of the working week of the new year. LDPR supporters are also against long weekends.

Their opinion goes somewhat into other calculations: they believe that the habit of Russians to drink a lot of alcohol on holidays takes the lives of people who die from alcohol, which will reduce the population of the country.

2019 New Year Holidays

The deputies raise the issue of shortening the New Year holidays every year. The last time they prepared a similar bill, they submitted it to the State Duma for consideration six months ago. Their solution is to rest strictly according to the calendar - December 31 and January 1.

How we rest in December 2018, January 2019, the current calendar is already telling. January brings the main vacation surprises:

  1. January 1, Tuesday is a holiday.
  2. New Year's holidays will run from Wednesday, January 2, until Tuesday, January 8.
  3. The number of these days also includes the Orthodox day of the Nativity of Christ, January 7.

In total, starting from December 30, Russians expect a 10-day vacation. Arranging holidays for Russian citizens for 10 days is the initiative of the Ministry of Labor, their idea was actively supported by the entire Government.

January weekend postponements

Of the postponements, only the announcement is expected on December 29th as a working day, after which Monday, December 31st will be the day off.

January weekends falling on the 5th and 6th - Saturday and Sunday, New Year's holidays are considered non-working according to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, therefore they are officially postponed to the 2nd and 3rd of May, Thursday and Friday.

How many days do we rest in Russia

The first work week of 2019 will begin on January 9th. It is short according to the calendar - 3 days, psychologists are convinced that this fact will allow Russians to easily enter a work rhythm. After all, there is an old Russian saying “we work as we rest”.

In addition, January also carries unofficial holidays, which will help to continue the New Year's fun. You can also relax in an informal setting.

So the Russians will celebrate the Old New Year on the night of January 13-14, although it will be the night from Sunday to Monday, just before the start of the next working week. Many citizens will, according to an established tradition, celebrate the Orthodox holiday on January 19 - the Baptism of the Lord.

It falls on Saturday, so it will be possible to devote one more weekend to the celebration. Some will just sit at the festive table, and others, according to the Orthodox tradition, will plunge into the ice-hole at the hour appointed by God.

Young people are waiting for another cheerful, full of enthusiasm and jokes, the holiday of students - Tatiana's day, which will be on Friday, 25th. The day before the weekend will allow students to celebrate the holiday with fun and revelry.

Government Ideas

The proposals of the Government of the country go beyond the usual New Year thinking. The Communist Party deputies are against the long January holidays, but they came out with an initiative to introduce the day of the annexation of Crimea and the renewed day of the October Revolution on public holidays. Their proposals are proposed to be submitted for public discussion, so the fate of the proposed holidays remains unclear.
