Once I had to get a job on a production practice. That is, to work at a certain enterprise for free for a couple of weeks and get precious experience and a certificate with a seal. But it was necessary to find a highly specialized enterprise, and this is not so easy. Mom found some acquaintances who agreed to help me. I went to their office, called the internal phone, they talked to me somehow rudely, made me wait half an hour and generally behaved very arrogantly. I left, slamming the heavy door. And I went to the neighboring factory, where I had no acquaintances. I left my passport on watch and went directly to the director. The next day I went to practice. I worked half a day, I was respected and appreciated and even paid good money for a student.

How better find a job through friends or herself? Being your own person is undoubtedly pleasant. It's nice when they are a little afraid of you and don't show the slightest negative towards you. And of course, what a negative, when your uncle is the director himself. The first days at such a job it seems that you are in a fairy tale, and you don't need to be afraid of anyone, and you don't need to rush to amaze everyone with your amazing performance. After all, you are already the best, you are already on a horse. But then, over time, you look around and realize that at work you are left all alone. Your colleagues are friends with each other, discuss something, quarrel, reconcile, go to lunch in a crowd in a nearby cafe, and you are kind of separate, like a stranger. And conversations subside when you enter the room, and smiles become strained, and phrases are clearly articulated. And if you try to gain confidence and say that, for example, you yourself consider your uncle a cruel tyrant, then this will only be perceived as a provocation and will seem like absolute hypocrisy. In general, it will be hard for you. It is also quite possible that your uncle will pay you less than you deserve, because you are relatives, and the position of the company is not so stable. And he will also tell your dad (or husband) that you smoke in the back room and play balls for hours, and they will never take you seriously. Yes, there are a lot of cons. But there are also pluses, you say. Let's take a look at them.

Benefits of a "connected person"

Applying for a place of work / study without exams, interviews and other interrogations, which means, without unnecessary hassle. Psychologists say job search is one of the top stressors. And for some girls, stress is an ordeal, which further reduces their chances of successfully finding a job. My friend, with an excellent diploma and impressive experience, could not find a job in her specialty, because when she came for an interview, she was lost and began to stutter with excitement. And the only way out in her situation was to attract all the connections with the help of which she became the chief accountant at a well-known firm. And the firm has been praying for it ever since.

- the deliberately tolerant attitude of others due to their awareness of your acquaintances. They will not bully you, argue with you and criticize you. They will not be openly. And here it is important to decide whether observance of external decency is enough for you or you need emotional contact. When you meet your boss, you can only rely on decency.

- the presence of at least one "own" person nearby. When you come "from the street" to a completely unfamiliar place, where you know no one and absolutely have no idea about the order and culture of this institution, you are faced with many difficulties. Your own person will help you adapt and give you valuable advice. He will tell you about the tricks of the corporate dress code, tell you in advance about the oddities and passions of some employees, will remind you of their names and birthdays, in general, he will do everything so that you do not get trapped.

Benefits of a "man on the street"

The man on the street has nothing to blame for anyone but himself, and everything that you achieve will only be your own achievement. Complete independence often opens up new opportunities and horizons. If no one is afraid for you and you don’t owe anyone, then you will behave more risky and uninhibited.

- it will be easier for you to join the team and become its full-fledged member. And even if the bosses do not immediately take you seriously, you will still have all the chances, because the employees will be for you. They will know that you have achieved everything on your own and do not boast of any connections. And this deserves respect.

Generally speaking, at first it will be difficult for a dark horse in a team, because no one knows what to expect from her. But flexibility, contact and professionalism should do the trick. And you are just that kind of person, right?

Yet better find a job most. If you do not cope with the work, then it will be easier for you than the "person with connections." First, you, again, will not be ashamed in front of those who favored you, and in front of your bosses, who overestimated your professional capabilities. You will be ashamed only in front of yourself, and this should whip up your pride and make you work harder. And secondly, employees will support you. If they do not have envy and condemnation towards you, then they will gladly help you and hide your shortcomings.

I have an acquaintance - the head of a large prestigious office. Once, in a fit of emotion, he told me about his hard lot. He, as it turned out after taking up a high position, has a huge number of relatives. And all these relatives, in turn, have a crowd of friends, and they all need to be hired. And not as a cleaner or a handyman, but as the head of "some small otdelchik". Moreover, there are much fewer departments in this office than the unemployed relatives of my friend. And at first he actually tried in good faith to attach them all, but later he swore to do so. Because, firstly, the relatives categorically could not cope. And secondly, it was completely impossible to talk to them seriously. They took full advantage of their position as "chief's nephew" and did not hear anything. I had to sign dismissal orders. And then for weeks to listen to the tearful threats of mothers and fathers of idlers. A similar situation is developing among university teachers. And with all their desire to help "their" people, they feel the burden of the family on themselves several times heavier than you and I. By the way, after that conversation with a friend, I realized that I would do everything myself. Can't I?

There is a widespread belief that in the best, highest paid, most prestigious places you cannot get a job without cronyism. So, this bike was invented by those who did not have the strength, confidence and professionalism to get a good job. And don't listen to them. There are not enough good specialists everywhere, and if you are, then you do not need any acquaintances, believe me.

Just pay attention to a few rules for a successful career "man on the street":

Better find a job most! Be proud of your "street origins" because it's not a flaw at all. Even if everyone around is someone's children, brothers and godfathers, you are still stronger than them, because you are an excellent specialist and did everything yourself, with your own hands, without recommendations and patronage.

- do not curry favor with anyone just because they are stronger than their acquaintances. They are also weaker than you and more vulnerable than you. If you fail, then you will leave with your head held high. And if they do not cope - oh, they will not be happy. Therefore, have pity on them and be on a par with everyone.

- be on a par and at the same time be the best! In your situation, you need to work for your authority and no one will praise you for a while. But then, perhaps, you will achieve that they will be proud of meeting you.

- behave calmly and confidently with your boss. He must understand that he is very lucky with you, unlike some of those with connections. Let them be his headache, and you - his joy.

And the most important thing is to have a cherished dream. For example, to become an opera singer, president, elite designer, write for beautiful women's magazines, or at least get a job in some kind of office of your dreams. And do everything possible for this. Independently and confidently. And then everything will work out. After all, "people from the street" are the strongest and most successful.
