Sorbonne University specialist Sevag Kertechian conducted an experiment with the participation of two women. The girls were similar in appearance and had roughly the same experience and skills in sales and accounting. According to the scenario of the study, the girls sent their CVs to potential employers, attaching photos of them in blouses with a deep neckline, as well as photos in tops with a high collar.
For three years, the participants sent CVs for 200 vacancies (100 in sales, 10 in accounting), writes Lenta.ru. At the end of the experiment, it turned out that employers were more willing to respond to a resume with an attached photograph "from the neckline" (according to estimates, 62 more invitations for an interview were received in the first profession, 68 more - in the second).
In other words, the chances of girls with the "correct" photo of being invited for an interview increase by about 19 times.
As noted by Kertechyan, the results of his research seem shocking and unpleasant, but by no means surprising. “Although work in the field of sales involves communication with clients, and accounting is just sitting in the office, even in the second case, candidates in revealing outfits have achieved more attention,” the scientist noted.
