A bitch or a man in a skirt?
A bitch or a man in a skirt?

I accidentally overheard the conversation of my colleagues in the "smoking room". "Yes, this Lucy is a real bitch!" one exclaimed. "And Katya is not a woman at all, but a man in a skirt!" - continued another. The girls of our new employees were discussing. And I suddenly became very interested in how people divide women into bitches and "men in skirts"? And if we are all women - bitches (do you remember this song?), Then who are the "men in skirts"? And what type am I myself?

Strange, but the offensive phrase "a man in a skirt" in the modern world is increasingly called a strong, purposeful woman. For example, the one who did not forgive the betrayal and divorced her walking husband, and even demanded monetary compensation from him for the moral damage caused. Or is she the one who gets a promotion at work for sitting in the office in the evenings and preparing monthly reports. This is an honest, stubborn, conscientious woman who always proves her case. Perhaps this is how I would characterize the Katya who was discussed in the "smoking room". She herself recalls that she often heard the phrase "a man in a skirt" in her address.

Katya, 28 years old: “Somehow in the store they missed me 7 rubles for change. While I was arguing with the seller and counted all the money on the check, a huge queue lined up behind me. I would have left the line. But I stubbornly continued to insist on my point, pointing to the seller at the check. The phrase "all people are like people, and this one is a man in a skirt" I then heard five times. I have legitimate money, so long as I do not stand above my heart. I, of course, understand that the amount is ridiculous, but if every seller starts to cheat us by 7, 5 rubles, then in a couple of years they will make a fortune for themselves, and we are deceived buyers - we will hand over bottles at 1 ruble apiece."

"A man in a skirt" Katya looks very feminine, always restrained and reasonable. Strange, but for all her attractiveness, she really has some too masculine traits. She always achieves those men with whom she wants to have a relationship, she fixes the taps and hammers nails in the house. Stubborn, conservative, principled. She is so independent and self-sufficient that one gets the impression that this fragile girl does not need a strong man's shoulder at all, because she herself has become a support and support for herself in grief and joy ….

I wonder what the bitch Lucy would have done if she had been cheated for seven rubles? With Katya, they are completely different. The only thing these girls have in common is that they are committed careerists.

Lyusya, 27 years old: "I wouldn't strain myself in the queue. Well, I would scold the seller for sure, and if I didn't get the money, I would try to steal something from the store in return. I had such a case: he sits down next to me. there is a man on the train and asks me to get out of the compartment so that he can change. I go out, leave my bag under the pillow, and take my wallet with me, just in case. After 10 minutes I return to the compartment and see that my bag is open on the shelf: all my things rummaged, the powder is broken, but nothing was taken - he was obviously looking for money. I was so angry! Shouted at this guy: “Oh, you bastard, how shameful it is to rummage in other people's things?” Sometimes, and replies, they say, he did not touch anything. Well, I decided to teach the bastard a lesson! I get up and go straight to the conductor to complain. On the way I take out my wallet, I take out all the money and hide it. I told the conductor that I was robbed for 1000 rubles, and I present an empty wallet as proof. The conductor immediately calls the policemen into the carriage. All together begin to demand the stolen money from the "thief". He makes excuses that he did not take anything. They gave him an ultimatum, or they give me 1000 or they draw up a protocol for him. He gave me the money. Then they took me to another compartment from him and left the police on duty at the door. And this little revenge was so pleasant! Now in his life he probably won't climb other people's bags!"

Lucy is emotional in herself. And also very harmful and cunning, but always remains very sweet at the same time. She can't even cook. He will come up to one of our bachelors and, with a flirtatious smile, begins to invite him over for tea. The boy will agree - a naive soul, and Lucy will drag him on the way to the store so that he will buy groceries, and at home he will force the poor man to cook her dinner and fix the tap.

If you believe my charming colleagues, it turns out that a whole strong woman is either very straightforward or insidious. "Men in skirts" break through the wall with their foreheads, and bitches go around it from the side. And maybe not everyone has the same opinion about who these women are, who are called these not the most pleasant words? The bastard who once stole your boyfriend from you, you will call a bitch, but at the same time you will not say that although she is harmful, she is still very cute.

In fact, "a man in a skirt" is still not so much an insult as a definition of one of the female characters. Only now it sounds very rude: you immediately imagine some unshaven man-like woman with a waddling gait…. But the bitch is a real curse. Most often, it becomes insulting to hear such a review about yourself. The only good news is that we - modern optimistic emancipated women, even in the most disgusting and unpleasant insult, are able to find complement! A bitch means cunning, a whore - liberated, a fool - funny….

So it turns out that "men in a skirt" are very honest and straightforward creatures, and bitches are insidious and resourceful. But both those and others are persistent in achieving their goal. Only their paths are different. And in fact, it is not some insults that we all periodically hear in our address are important here, but your essence. Are you a swindler by nature, or are you a conscientious Samaritan woman? Will you honestly defend your principles and clearly prove your case, or will you go "roundabout" ways. What is the right thing to do? Which of the two insults should be happier? Or maybe you just sit quietly at home under the covers and worry that you, so good, sweet and kind, are called such ugly words?

Each case has its own virtue. But one philosopher once said: "Every person has three characters: the one that is attributed to him, the one that he ascribes to himself, and, finally, the one that really is."

Many of us consider ourselves honest "men in skirts", those around us see us as bitches, but in fact we look at our reflection in the mirror and quietly rejoice that we are neither one nor the other.
