Celine officially announced the death of her 73-year-old spouse on her Facebook page. It is clarified that Angelil died on January 14, in his own home in Las Vegas "after a long and courageous struggle with cancer." As the media remind, Dion met Angelil in 1980. They began dating in 1987, and announced their engagement four years later. The couple's wedding took place on December 17, 1994 at Notre Dame Cathedral in Montreal.

In 1999, Angelil was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. But the doctors managed to suppress the disease. After a few years, the disease receded. In 2013, Rene was diagnosed with a relapse, Dion left the stage to be with her husband. At the end of last year, the serious condition of the man was reported.

Celine canceled all performances in order to pay maximum attention to her husband.
