Russian skaters have proved once again: they are the best on the ice. The day before, the couple Tatyana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov set a world record in the individual short program at the Sochi Olympics. Now they are the main contenders for gold.
On February 11, Volosozhar and Trankov completed the short program with a score of 84, 17 points, setting a record and taking first place. Today the skaters will perform in a free program.

The previous world record also belonged to Volosozhar and Trankov. It was installed at the 2014 European Championships in Budapest and was 83.98 points.
“Our team is so strong that our couple, Ksenia Stolbovoy and Fedor Klimov, took third place after the short program,” noted Tatiana Volosozhar. “And our group partners, Nina Moser, do not let you relax at any training session.” Maxim Trankov added that he was nervous during the performance.
“For me personally, the rental turned out to be ambiguous. There were moments when it seemed that I was about to take off, but I had to restrain myself. It was necessary to find the necessary line between technique and artistry. There have been moments in our career when emotions hurt us."
As noted by the domestic media, Volosozhar and Trankov never hid the fact that they went to the Olympics exclusively for gold in an individual tournament. While they have not yet conquered it, they have already become real heroes of the Olympics. Earlier at the Games in Sochi, the couple had already become Olympic champions, winning the short program in the team competition.
