Long-lasting makeup secrets

Sometimes it seems that the creation of graceful, beautiful and sensual makeup is within the power of only professional makeup artists. It seems that I bought expensive cosmetics, and the brushes are correct, and everything is in order with taste, but you cannot look at the result of the "flight of imagination" without tears. And it happens even worse: you try, puff, create and, incredibly proud of yourself, go to an important event. But already on the way half of what you "conjured" does not remain on your face.

Professionals, meanwhile, vied with each other that beautiful and "long-lasting" makeup is easy to create, does not require tons of cosmetics and does not interfere with life. The trick is getting the accents right. How? Easily! See for yourself.

Flawless makeup enhances the beauty of the face, gives the skin radiance, freshness and health, corrects imperfections. But in order for the paints to do their job, it is necessary to prepare the ground for this, following simple rules:

  1. Thoroughly cleanse the skin in the morning and evening, protect - during the day, nourish - at night.
  2. Only apply makeup in daylight to avoid overdoing it.
  3. A sad expression will make you look tired, so before you apply makeup, be inspired and smile at yourself with a sincere smile.
  4. Apply cosmetics only in the correct sequence: first - tone, cheeks, cheekbones, then - eyes. And only at the very end - lips.
  5. Do not think about how to hide flaws more successfully - start emphasizing your advantages.

The foundation

Makeup is the first barrier to protect your skin from pollution and environmental damage, so don't neglect the foundation. Even if you are not a big fan of foundations, even out your complexion with light textures (like, for example, the new Perfect Touch foundation from Yves Saint Laurent), because it is the complexion that makes the overall impression.

  1. To blend the base harmoniously with your skin, choose the right shade with the help of a simple test: draw a small line on the ball of your thumb - and you will immediately see if it is "your" color. Try to choose a base that is slightly lighter than your natural color. This will serve you well: it will hide fatigue and even the first wrinkles at the right time.
  2. For a flawless result, apply foundation all over the face, including the lips and eye contour, and a little on the neck.
  3. If you have dry skin, use a moisturizer that will absorb well and leave your skin as smooth as satin in any light and climate.
  4. Apply the foundation with light touches on the middle part of the face (forehead, nose, chin) and distribute with stroking movements evenly over the face - from the center to the periphery.
  5. If you want to touch up your makeup throughout the day, apply your foundation with a dry sponge. And vice versa: if you want to achieve a denser toning, use a wet one.

Color harmony

I would like to offer you an alternative to the "Winter-Spring-Summer-Autumn" types of determining the makeup that suits you, which is based on your preferences in clothes.

  • If "your" color is green (any shades), yellow, red, white or black, then your gamut is Red.
  • If your clothes are all blue, gray, pink, white and black, your gamut is Pink.
  • If you prefer pastel, cream, brown, beige, coral, orange tones in your clothes, your range is Coral.

Powder and blush

Which powder to choose - loose or compact - depends only on what you want to achieve. Loose (like the new from Givenchy - Prisme Libre) fixes the base well and ensures the durability of the blush that you apply after. A compact powder (such as Chanel Teint Innocence) is ideal for adjusting makeup throughout the day. Apply it with a sponge and then brush off any excess.

  • Blush gives a special expressiveness to facial features.
  • Blush from the Red range is suitable for matte or slightly tanned skin.
  • The pink palette is perfect for fair skin.
  • The Coral line blush will give any skin type a glow.

Lips

If lipstick stains your teeth, the collar of a snow-white blouse and a glass of wine, but not your lips, then you just forgot about the rules for using this simple tool:

  1. Before applying lipstick or gloss, lubricate your lips with a thin layer of petroleum jelly or special balm (which, for example, there are a lot of MAC), wait five minutes until some of the product is absorbed, and remove the residue with a sanitary napkin.
  2. Line up your lips with a pencil (like Givenchy Lip Lip Lip!) In a darker tone than your lipstick, then blend well from the center to the edges.
  3. If you don't use a pencil, matte lipstick (Lancome Color Fever) can easily replace it and serve as an excellent base for another, more glossy shade or gloss.
  4. The more lipstick you apply, the faster it will wear off. Therefore, apply it only with a special brush, which will allow you to cover a larger area with less product.
  5. Put some lip gloss on top of the lipstick (very good ones from Dior) and take it with you wherever you go. Of course, gloss is even less durable than lipstick, but it's much easier to renew.

Eyes

Unlike lips, eye makeup is expensive to "touch up" all the time, so approach it responsibly:

  1. Apply a small amount of Correcting Fluid by T. LeClerc to dark circles, blend with a brush or fingertips, then remove excess with a cotton pad.
  2. To help the eyeshadow last longer, apply some Clarins True Comfort Foundation to the moving eyelid, then dry it with powder.
  3. Never use an iris-colored eyeshadow - it will make your eyes look dull.
  4. For a flawless eyeliner application, place a mirror opposite and lift your chin as much as possible. This will make your upper eyelids motionless, your movements fast, and your lines crisp.
  5. Liquid eyeliner (for example, from Estee Lauder) lasts for eight hours and gives depth to the look, but it looks very defiant, so it is better to use it for an evening look, and go with a regular eyeliner during the day (excellent - from Sisley).
  6. Waterproof mascara (for example, Helena Rubinstein) protects against the consequences of being too emotional, but at the same time, it can roll into unpleasant lumps and harm contact lenses. Try replacing it with a water-repellent one (Clinique) - it rinses off more easily and does not crumble.

Surely you know this, and yet I will remind you: the age of mascara is short-lived, and therefore change it at least once every three months, even if it seems to you that it is still "quite good for itself."

Removing makeup

If you do everything right, not only should you still have makeup with you, but when the time comes to wash it off, it will be easy to remove with the help of improvised means.

  1. Use a special water-resistant make-up remover: their oil base will remove the paint, and the subsequent washing with warm water will get rid of excess oil.
  2. Professional make-up artists welcome the removal of makeup with specially designed wipes, but only when, again, they are oil-based. Apply a napkin, for example, to your eyelid for five seconds so that it absorbs the paint, and then gently remove it in one motion without rubbing.
  3. To remove long-lasting lipstick, apply petroleum jelly to your lips and wait a few minutes before washing everything off.
  4. Oddly enough, you can also use waterproof eye makeup remover to remove long-lasting lipstick - it works.
  5. A regular facial soap or cleansing toner should be enough to remove any makeup residue from your face.

SOS, or what to do if …

  1. If you've overdone the foundation, dab some day cream on a sponge, quickly apply it all over your face, then blot and dry with a paper towel.
  2. If your eyebrows are "hidden" under the foundation, comb them properly in all directions, then moisten the brush with lotion, wipe it off and comb again. Little secret: if you sprinkle a little hairspray on the brush, you can give your eyebrows any shape.
  3. If the eyeshadow particles get on the face, brush them off with a large brush in the direction from the center, without pressing on the skin.
  4. If the mascara brush touches an already painted upper eyelid, wipe off the specks with a cotton swab with quick, light strokes, as if drawing a comma.
  5. If you overdo it with applying color, by no means start all over again. Remove excess blush, eyeshadow and lipstick with a loose powder brush that lightens the color.

As you can see, creating beautiful makeup is not such a difficult task. Don't worry if something doesn't work out the first time: like any business, makeup requires experience and practice. Armed with our little tips, you can certainly handle everything - you just have to want to.
