Some media reported that due to the coronavirus, the schedule for the payment of pensions for June 2020 may be shifted. But the Pension Fund of Russia has notified its addressees when they will pay and how they will pay. There is no need to worry - no delays are foreseen.

Why are there grounds for concern?

Detailed interviews with financial experts began to appear in print media and on Internet portals, who report that the FIU is not receiving a significant amount of money and will soon experience difficulties in paying pensions.

Recently, there was indeed a message of this kind, but the words were taken out of context and used incorrectly. This interpretation has led to concerns over whether the first summer month will be paid and, if delayed, when.

HSE experts Evgeny Yakushev, Oksana Sinyavskaya and Andrei Stolyarov really argue that the shortfall in funds by the Pension Fund of Russia amounted to more than one and a half billion rubles, and this is due to the global pandemic:

• many enterprises were forced to close, all except for life support;
• there are no deductions from those who do not work to insurance funds, and these are significant amounts;
• the government has cut insurance payments in half to industries affected by the coronavirus;
• to save small and medium-sized businesses, deferrals are provided for six months.

Elderly people, for whom pensions are often the only source of income, are seriously concerned that there may be changes in the payment schedule for June 2020. In the full context of the experts' statement, it is said that such difficulties will appear only if the quarantine due to coronavirus lasts more than 9 months …

There is no reason to assume such a duration of the high alert regime, which means that there is no reason for concern either in June or even in September 2020. The Russian government is ready to provide tranches to the Pension Fund from the state treasury, because socially unprotected categories of the population who need payments are always a priority.

What dates of retirement payments are known exactly

The schedule and date when they will be paid depend on how the pension is received. Two-thirds of Russian pensioners have long since switched to a convenient form of receiving the funds owed - bank cards. A third prefers to receive payments on their own at the post office.

Now, due to the epidemic, the elderly, due to the fact that they are in the first group of risk of morbidity and the development of severe complications, are forced to be in isolation at home. Pensions are delivered to them by employees of the post office at the place of stay.

The Russian Post's work schedule can be five or six days, but pensioners are always notified when payments will be made, if the set number falls on a weekend. If there were no additional notifications about changes in the date due to a federal holiday, then those who are waiting for the postal worker will receive it on time.

Transfers to the bank card

Sberbank, in which most pensioners receive funds on the card, has already notified that the pension payment schedule will not change. And this is not surprising, because this method of obtaining is the most reliable.

Sberbank is the largest bank in Russia, offering products in demand to the elderly. The bank's clients, recipients of pension payments, have already been notified of the schedule for the first month of summer:

• for June 3, charges will be made in full on June 4;
• for June 6 and 7, money will come to the card on the 8th;
• but for 12, Day of Russia, when everyone has a day off, pensions for June 2020, as usual, will come in advance, on the 11th.

As for the changes in the subjects of the Federation, no messages have been received from there. There were several holidays in May, and the transfers were announced in advance.

There is only one public holiday in the first summer month, which falls on Friday. At the same time, pensioners will receive money on the eve of the significant date.

Sberbank does not foresee any more changes in the schedule; it has notified the recipients of when it will pay the funds due. Those who receive through smaller financial structures or funds will have to find out the estimated dates themselves or simply wait for the accrual to arrive.

The coronavirus and the public holiday on Friday will not affect the usual schedule of the local post office (the only exception will be those branches whose day falls on June 12 according to the schedule, but they will receive the money in advance).
