The world of Russian ballet stars is restless again. The scandals in the Bolshoi have not yet settled, as conflicts begin to flare up in the Mariinsky Theater. In particular, the prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater Diana Vishneva expressed outrage at the unexpected appointment of Nikolai Tsiskaridze to the post of head of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.

The appointment of Nikolai Tsiskaridze as rector of the Vaganov Academy became known on Monday. At the same time, it was clarified that the former head of the institution Vera Dorofeeva, who had held the post of rector since 2004, agreed to go to work at the Mikhailovsky Theater. Diana Vishneva, who graduated from the academy in 1995, was greatly surprised and even outraged by the personnel reshuffle. According to the prima, there were no good reasons for replacing the leadership.

“In any case, the rector of the Vaganov Academy must be a person who has the necessary education for this. Also, we must not forget that the school is, first of all, children, and its leader must be morally impeccable. I'd like to believe that this is not the end of the great school,”RIA Novosti quotes the ballerina.

The ballerina emphasized that the impudence with which the leadership of the school was changed outraged her. “I think that everyone who supports the traditions of Vaganovka, working at the school or presenting it on the stage of leading theaters, who keeps the love of ballet art instilled in the school in their hearts, has the same feelings.”

Earlier, Vera Dorofeeva, at the presentation of Tsiskaridze to the academy staff, openly stated that her departure was a condition for abandoning the ambitious project of the head of the Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev to unite the ballet academy and the conservatory with the theater.

The director of the Mikhailovsky Theater Vladimir Kekhman, who invited Dorofeev to work, did not fail to comment on this. “The decision was made by the Ministry of Culture because there is supposedly the opinion of one of our well-known artistic directors, who is dissatisfied with the kind of ballet cadres who come to his theater. Okay: Nikolai Maksimovich will train new personnel, now we'll see. He has said so many times that he wants to be a leader, now let's see how that will happen."
