In childhood, it is still difficult for us to realize the importance of comprehending the sciences for our future life. Parents and teachers have to force us to cram homework, control, punish … And we take offense at them and continue to do our best to shirk from school, because it is so much more pleasant to jump on the street with a rope or play bouncers with the guys! But then, after many years, we remember with gratitude our teachers who put so much strength and patience in us and gave us the opportunity to find our way in life.

With such gratitude, I still remember my French teacher, who not only gave me the necessary knowledge, but also taught me to love and enjoy this knowledge throughout my life. I now read books by French authors exclusively in the original, taking advantage of all the advantages that follow from this: after all, sometimes some kind of humor, a play on words is simply impossible to translate into Russian, you have to look for workarounds, and all the charm of the narrative is lost. And how interesting it is sometimes to translate national proverbs, because one and the same thought can be conveyed in completely different words! For example, the proverb:"

When you just start learning a language, every day getting more and more enriched with new knowledge, at first you feel some semblance of euphoria - new letters are added to words, words to expressions, and now you are trying to express your thought in a previously completely unfamiliar language! Then, somehow, there gradually comes some cooling and disappointment, because you cannot advance with huge leaps, now you have to stamp in one place, honing your skills and overcoming the language barrier. What is a language barrier? This is when you already know a lot, but you get lost and cannot answer anything intelligible when someone speaks to you in a foreign language. To overcome the language barrier, you need to try to speak the language as much as possible, or even better, go to the country of the language being studied and, as they say, carry out a complete "immersion".

I was able to go to Paris only three years after graduation. At first, there was a feeling that people in the capital of France were not spoken in French at all. It should be noted that colloquial French speech is very different from the literary language (as, indeed, in any language), besides, the French are terrible hurries, they swallow half of the words, and at first I had to strain all my attention to understand them. But with what pleasure I communicated with them later! In any shop, cafe, or just on the street, sellers and passers-by were happy to start a conversation with me when they found out that I was from Russia, and did not forget to praise me for my good French! And once we sat down with a friend to relax at a bus stop after another round of Parisian attractions, and a local old woman who had just approached us asked how long the bus had left. I replied that, unfortunately, I had just, and invited her to sit down. And then she continued the conversation with her friend (in Russian, of course). You should have seen the surprised eyes of the old woman - she decided that we were local!

In conclusion, I want to say that in our time, knowledge of languages is no longer a luxury, but a real necessity. Relations between countries are developing at a tremendous pace, foreigners among us are no longer a wonder, and we also constantly go on tourist or business trips. The younger generation is well aware that without language it will be difficult for them to find a worthy place in life. That is why there is now such a large selection of various foreign language courses! If you decide to learn a language before traveling abroad, then it is better to take an accelerated course. There you will be given the necessary foundations, and you can strengthen and enrich your knowledge by communicating directly with the "speakers" of this very language. If you need a language for work or for pleasure (as an additional hobby), you need to study it for a long time, without rushing anywhere. In any case, I wish you success!
