The famous brawler Naomi Campbell once again found herself in a rather difficult situation. Fortunately, she does not face jail time or correctional labor for beating the maids yet. But then the supermodel is accused of causing harm to the environment and the extermination of turtles.

Naomi and her ex-boyfriend Flavio Briatore, the Formula 1 boss, are planning a major entertainment complex, including a hotel and casino, in the Kenyan Indian Ocean city of Malindi.

Malindi in the past was a kind of resort area for large landowners in Kenya. In recent years, the town has experienced a real boom, with an influx of mostly so-called sex tourists. And also, according to press reports, some large Italian mafiosi moved to the country after a big purge in their homeland in the 80s. Malindi already has one of the largest casinos in Kenya, and there is talk of an increase in the crime rate.

The intentions of the two celebrities came as an unpleasant surprise for environmentalists. They argue that the construction will negate the results of many years of work to preserve endangered species of marine fauna. Conservationists have already protested, pointing out the fact that this is where representatives of three endangered species of turtles come to produce offspring. Newborn turtles that are born at night can be intimidated by bright lights, noise and loud music. Then they risk losing their orientation in space and instead of heading towards the water, they will go far from the sea, which will lead to the death of the young.

Local authorities refuse to discuss issues related to the construction, saying that everything has already been agreed. Campbell said she and partners are going to build a six-star hotel in Kenya for the world's elite.
