Auction house Christie's in London has already put up for auction a collection of about 230 items, including a 37-carat diamond of rare clarity, the total value of which is more than $ 10 million.

The only heiress of the huge fortune of the shipbuilding magnate Aristotle Onassis, 23-year-old Athena decided to part with her mother Christina's jewelry collection. The sale is not due to a lack of funds - the fortune of Athena is estimated at more than $ 2 billion - the girl does not want to see these attributes of a bygone era. And the accusations that she is allegedly disrespectful to the family heritage, Athena is not at all embarrassed.

“She is a young girl, and this jewelry is not for her,” explained Christie's jewelry expert. “And she’s unlikely to ever wear them.” This time has passed. Nevertheless, I am sure that there will be many buyers for the collection who will wear these jewelry, but mostly at private parties."

The most attractive items in the collection are a 19th century necklace, a pendant made of a magnificent white diamond and a Fabergé statue of Buddha. For a long time it was kept on the yacht "Christina", named after the tycoon's daughter. Onassis liked to show an unusual figure to his guests.

It should be recalled that Christina Onassis died at the age of 37 under unclear circumstances, when her daughter was 3 years old. Christina inherited two-thirds of her father's estate at the age of 24. She married several times, including a citizen of the Soviet Union, and brought some jewelry to her Moscow apartment.
