As you know, men's tastes are very diverse. And slender girls from glossy covers are not always very popular among the stronger sex. Lovers of ladies with curvaceous forms are quite common, but, as noted by British scientists, such men have rather liberal views on the ideals of female beauty.

During the study, the researchers asked two groups of volunteers (one of which was full of "lovers of donuts") to evaluate black-and-white photographs of 10 women - owners of various shapes. Participants in both groups were asked to select the woman with the most attractive figure, as well as the thinnest and most curvaceous figure that would get their attention.

Men who prefer Rubens' forms were most attracted by the photograph of a woman whose body mass index was 29.24 points. According to existing norms, a body mass index from 25 to 29.9 is determined in an overweight person. But at the same time, researchers note that "fat lovers" tend to pay attention to women with a wide variety of figures: from overweight to the thinnest.

Participants of the experiment from the control group at the same time recognized the most attractive woman with a body mass index of 18, 45 points, which, according to the existing scale, means a weight deficit. Women with some excess weight received the lowest marks in this group, writes point.ru.

According to the head of the research group, professor of psychology at the University of Westminster Viren Suomi, the results of the work of scientists suggest that the existing sociocultural norms of attractiveness should be revised.

Most "fat lovers", according to the scientist, understood that their preferences in terms of female figures were contrary to the generally accepted ideals of beauty, but did not consider themselves "deviations from the norm." In their view, the preferences existing in their system of perception are just the norm, because they are attracted by natural, real beauty, and not the fictitious ideals of glamorous magazines.
