History

The Second Savior, like many religious holidays, has pagan roots. Together with an apple and a candle, they go around the house with a prayer to the Lord for protection from troubles, for peace and harmony. Then the wax is put in the other half of the apple, the two parts are connected, tied with a rope and buried far from home.

If you believe the legend, the bird of joy Alkonost and the bird of sorrow Sirin fly to the apple tree from the Garden of Eden. Sirin is the first to peck the apples, flapping her wings, shaking off the dead dew from them. Therefore, dead water may fall on the hand of the one who picks an apple before the Savior.
