From March 20 - early exam

Less than a month is left before the exam for those who will write tests ahead of schedule. Already on March 20 it will be possible to pass geography and literature. April 13 is the last day of early passing of the exam in compulsory subjects: Russian language and mathematics.

The main company for passing the USE-2020 starts on May 25 and runs until June 16. On the first day, it will be possible to pass geography, literature or computer science.

Until the end of June, graduates who could not pass the exam on time will be provided with reserve days for writing tests.

What changed

Every year, graduates and their parents expect changes in the Unified State Exam. For example, for several years there has been talk about the fact that history and a foreign language, which are now surrendered at the discretion of students, will become mandatory. Therefore, the questions about what exams will be taken in grade 11 in 2020, what will change in the exam, what subjects will be added - worries many.

Recently it became known that graduates will indeed have to take history. But this will happen no earlier than 2022, and even then not in all regions of the country. It is not yet clear which regions these will be and by what criteria they will be selected.

However, Russian students who will be preparing for graduation in the next couple of years should take this fact into account and pay more attention to history. By the way, talk about the fact that history will become an obligatory subject has been going on since 2013.

Foreign languages are handed over at will today. Students can write an elective test in English, German, French, Spanish or Chinese. However, the Ministry of Education came to the conclusion that a foreign language must be made compulsory for passing. Indeed, in today's dynamic world it is no longer enough to know only one native language.

To move up the career ladder, expand contacts, business and informal communication, travel, knowledge of at least one foreign language is required.

They say that a compulsory foreign language will be added to the exam for schoolchildren. This will also happen closer to 2022. The assignments are already in development.

It turns out that nothing will change for graduates this year. Tests will still consist of two task blocks. The first block is checked by a computer, the second - by teachers. To obtain a certificate, it is enough for schoolchildren, as before, to pass the Russian language and mathematics (profile or basic). And if the graduate plans to get higher education in the future, he will have to choose additional subjects out of 15.

When it comes to the exam 2020, many are interested in, among other things, how many subjects to take in grade 11 of their choice. Usually 2-3 disciplines are enough. What exactly to take - schoolchildren had to decide before February 1, because after this date, the application for participation in the Unified State Exam is no longer accepted.

Online exam, neural networks and statistics

This year, it is planned that in several regions of Russia neural networks will monitor the order in exams. If the system detects violations, the signal will immediately go to the video observer, and an on-site check will be carried out.

In the future, the use of artificial intelligence may become a common practice, which will allow the state to save money on "live" observers.

Interested in what changes have been made to the scoring system? For the third year in a row, the minimum score threshold has remained unchanged: in order to obtain a certificate, a student needs to pass the Russian language at least 24 points, profile mathematics - at 27 points. Basic mathematics can be passed with a C grade.

For admission to a university, the criteria are the same as in previous years. The minimum threshold for subjects is as follows:

• Russian language, biology, physics, chemistry - 36;
• mathematics - 27;
• geography - 37;
• foreign language - 22;
• informatics - 40;
• history, literature - 32;
• social studies - 42.

Curious statistics: in some subjects, the maximum GPA increased in 2019. Graduates did better in mathematics, computer science, and history than in 2018. So, if the maximum average score in mathematics 2 years ago was 49.8, then last year it grew to 56.5.

Russian students also improved their knowledge of foreign languages. The highest average score in German last year was 72.4, while in 2018 it was 68.9. In English, the indicators are as follows: 73, 8 and 69, 2 for 2019 and 2018, respectively.

At the same time, the results in Russian, literature, basic mathematics, social science, geography, chemistry, biology and physics have been quite stable for many years now: the maximum average scores do not decrease, but do not increase either. Whether something will change this year - time will tell.
