The shoes were made by British designer Christopher Michael Shellis, who calls his creation a piece of jewelry that can be worn on your feet. The cost of a shoe, decorated with 2,200 diamonds, is 140 thousand pounds (more than 158 thousand euros).

In addition to gold shoes, the jewelry designer also produces lipstick holders, pocket mirror frames and precious metal purses. Shoes, however, are Shellis' most expensive work.

According to the designer, the gold shoes were made five months ago, but during this time not a single pair has been purchased. How many pairs of such shoes Shellys managed to make is not specified.

Designers and jewelers regularly create shoes and accessories from precious metals and stones, reminds Lenta.ru. The year before last, shoes worth 50 thousand euros were presented in France, made using gold, crocodile leather, semi-precious stones and satin ribbons.

However, the most impressive model was presented in the summer of 2003 in Tokyo. Women's red shoes, inlaid with 690 rubies, were valued at about one and a half million dollars. The model was made based on the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz", where the main character Dorothy wore "ruby shoes".

The shoes were originally intended for a Hollywood actress who planned to wear them at the Oscars, but due to the war in Iraq, filmmakers decided not to flaunt their level of well-being.
