Scientists at Cornell University in the United States have created an apparatus that acts like a printer, but instead of ink, it has a food mixture.
The mixture is fed through syringes, it is applied layer by layer according to the algorithm entered into the computer, and as a result, a three-dimensional "image" of the dish is obtained. In fact, the creators argue, this is a ready-to-eat product. True, so far scientists have managed to get only liquid cheese, chocolate and cake dough from a food printer.
Algorithms are now being developed for making cookies, cake and meat filling with turkey flavor, writes gazeta.ru with reference to the Daily Mail.
The university chefs have huge plans to improve the machine. They intend to expand the "colors" used in the printer - the ingredients for the food mix. Then, they dream, each person will be able to cook their own food with the desired properties.
“For example, you love cookies, but you would like them to be flaky,” explains project manager Jeffrey Ian Lipton. "You move the slider on the machine to increase the flakiness, and the cookie recipe automatically changes."
The specialist is convinced that their invention is a revolutionary breakthrough in food production technology. “Imagine that you can just get an apple pie. And at the same time, you do not need to grow apples, pick them, transport them, pack them, chill them. And housewives do not need to buy these apples, peel them, prepare dough, bake, wash pots and pans,”says the scientist.
