If desired, males are capable of much. It all depends on the situation. So, for example, a rooster named Gianni, who lives on a farm in Tuscany, has changed its sex. Now he lays and incubates eggs. At the same time, specialists are already working on an unusual case.

Gianni did not have to lay eggs and even hatch them because of a good life. It is possible that the recent drama on the farm was one of the main reasons for the metamorphosis that occurred with the bird. The fact is that a fox has recently crept into the territory of the farm and strangled all the laying hens. Imagine the surprise of the owners of the farm when, after some time, the widowed male personally took up reproduction.

An interesting document has survived to this day, which testifies that in 1474 the magistrate of the city of Basel sentenced a rooster to be burned on the grounds that the "accused" sat in the nest and laid an egg.

Currently, the phenomenon is being studied by specialists who specially came to Tuscany to take DNA analysis from the bird and determine what caused the rooster to turn into a chicken. Experts suggest that the rooster has changed sex in order to continue breeding without females.

Currently, according to scientists, several species of animals that can change sex live on the planet. Such radical changes, called sequential hermaphroditism, can, in particular, occur in shrimp, sea cucumbers, clown fish, parrot fish and other coral reef dwellers.

In principle, the phenomenon of hermaphroditism is widespread among chickens and roosters. Hermaphrodite individuals in the process of life are prone to sex changes, so sometimes you can find chickens who suddenly began to sing like a cock. The latter gave rise to a lot of superstitions. It was believed that chickens, crowing a rooster, bring misfortune, and they were immediately killed.
