The organizers of the New Wave music festival are beginning to actively prepare for the event. This year the competition will be held from September 3 to September 9 in Sochi. And not only young performers will appear on the stage, but also world-class stars.
According to the founder of the competition Igor Krutoy, the famous British artist Sting was invited as the headliner. And in the near future this detail will be known for sure.
“I think (the headliner will be) Sting, but the contract has not been signed yet, negotiations are underway. I hope that the contract will be signed within three days,”Krutoy said.
Igor Yakovlevich clarified that the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, the Ukrainian singer Jamala, should not be expected. “He won't come, but it's not our fault. Ukrainian performers are very specific about our television projects, although they earn money in Russia. All of Moscow is hung with posters of Ukrainian performers. But Sofia Rotaru will come."
As for the participants in the competition, representatives from 13 countries have already been selected. The competition will be broadcast live.
