Every woman knows one or another method of dealing with the hated "orange peel". Often these secrets are passed from mouth to mouth, almost from generation to generation. And everyone thinks that she knows everything about cellulite and understands why she got it and how to overcome it.

Myth 1. Cellulite occurs from excess weight

This is partly true - a sedentary lifestyle and being overweight contribute to the development of cellulite. But the very reason for the formation of cellulite is different: molecules of free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS) act on fat cells, increasing their volume and promoting the proliferation of connective tissues. This is how "bumps" and irregularities appear under the skin. The main reasons for the occurrence of a large number of free radicals are unhealthy diet, bad habits and stress.

Myth 2. "Anti-cellulite diets" will save you from orange peel

They will not save. Eating the "right" foods and excluding harmful ones from the diet, of course, will help improve skin condition, lose weight, but will not save you from cellulite. Here is an indirect connection - improper diet leads to metabolic disorders and the production of a huge number of free radicals in the body. But at the same time, strict "painful" diets will cause the release of the stress hormone, which will only increase cellulite.

There is one more thing: contrary to prohibitions, estrogen hormones are used in livestock feed and get into meat. Through hormone users, estrogen contaminates the groundwater that feeds vegetables, fruits and grains. A person unwittingly uses analogs of estrogens contained in plastics and pesticides, which actively pollute the entire environment. Therefore, it is not a fact that proper nutrition with foods that contain hormones will reduce cellulite. You need to eat homemade, rural, 100% pure products, but where can city dwellers get them?

Myth 3. Only sports will help, you need more training

This is not true. Even professional athletes have cellulite. With the help of physical exercises, you can tighten muscles, improve the general condition of the body, but from physical exertion alone, the "orange peel" will not disappear. And if you have not been involved in fitness in your life and suddenly start to exhaust yourself with training, the body will release a stress hormone and, as mentioned above, cellulite may increase.

Myth 4. Folk remedies - the most reliable

We can say briefly about "grandma's recipes": maximum effort - minimum result. Be very careful when using home remedies. For example, home wrapping can lead to dehydration or serious allergic reactions. A cupping or honey massage performed by a non-specialist is fraught with the formation of bruises, hematomas and vascular damage. That is, in an attempt to overcome cellulite, you can at the same time earn varricosis.

Myth 5. All dietary supplements for cellulite have the same composition and are equally useless

At stages 3 and 4 of cellulite, when the bumps are very noticeable and cause physical discomfort, medications are needed. Most dietary supplements are based on antioxidants - substances that neutralize free radicals and reactive oxygen species. In order to choose the right cellulite remedy, you need to dig a little deeper and understand how these supplements work.

Antioxidants are divided into two types: primary and secondary. Primary antioxidants destroy millions of free radicals and are able to neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS). Each molecule of a secondary antioxidant can cope with only one radical, and ROS is beyond their powers at all. Primary antioxidants are relatively rare in nature, and until recently scientists could not find a suitable source of primary antioxidants suitable for use in pharmacology. Secondary antioxidants are common and are part of most dietary supplements: green tea extract, grape seed, blister fucus, turmeric, and so on.

Nada Vasiljević, MD, Deputy Director of the Biomedicine Directorate at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, Representative and Member of the Board of Directors at the European Council for Blood Transfusion:

“The reputation of anti-cellulite dietary supplements has been hopelessly damaged by aggressive advertising of dubious manufacturers. Associations with anti-cellulite products usually boil down to annoying banners with repulsive photographs and intimidating headlines. It is difficult to find a truly effective drug in this mass, whose action is based on a scientific method and clinical research.

At the same time, over the past decade, science and medicine have made significant progress in getting rid of cellulite. There are dietary supplements based on primary antioxidants, first of all - SOD, extracted from the extract of a special type of melon Cantaloupe. This substance is thousands of times more active than the usual ingredients of dietary supplements. The effectiveness of SOD is confirmed by studies conducted in 2015 in France: in several dozen women, after a month of taking melon extract, cellulite on all parts of the body decreased by approximately 9.5%, and the breakdown of fat cells increased to 94%."

The only SOD-based anti-cellulite agent available in Russia is Celluline. It is available in the form of capsules, which must be taken one per day. There are 28 "pills" in the package - enough for a full month course. Celluline costs 3,850 rubles, no more or less expensive than most dietary supplements based on ineffective secondary antioxidants. More information about the effectiveness of melon extract, effective ways to combat cellulite can be found on the website celluline.ru.

Finally, it is worth highlighting one important point: you need to get rid of the "orange peel" not before any event (vacation, beach season, wedding), but immediately when a problem arises. Cellulite is, first of all, a malfunction in the body, which can be accompanied by other less obvious problems. You always need to love yourself and your body, and for this you need to be able to understand issues related to health and the right ways to deal with various ailments, including cellulite.
