Rodion Gazmanov: "This is how I see my wedding"

Recently Rodion Gazmanov gave a concert in the Kremlin Palace. At the end of the show, the audience gathered at the stage and danced, although the hall was not at all intended for such a stormy fun. Rodion's gentle, lyrical song "Parami" conquers the charts.

The 35-year-old son of Oleg Gazmanov had been in business all his youth, and a few years ago he realized that he could not be happy off stage. And it seems that his songs make many listeners happy.

Do you have a girlfriend?

- This is a personal question, which I will not answer. I definitely don't have a young man. And it is not planned.

And how often do your relationships develop: do you start courting a girl, or does a girl start hunting you?

- Everything is absolutely different. I had it and so and so. And if a spark has run between you, then it turns out. If not, then no matter who is running after who, there will be no result.

Give your fans advice on how a girl should behave to impress you

- There is only one advice - to be natural. When a person pretends and tries to make an impression, it is either visible immediately, or it will be revealed later, when everything has already developed into a relationship, which, possibly, will collapse because of this.

- You conduct weddings like all artists …

- Not all! Not all artists lead weddings and, moreover, not all artists do it well.

- Yes I know. My chosen one and I will go to the Maldives. I will put a wreath on her, she will put a garland of flowers on me. We will be naked, and we will go along the lunar path towards the moon. And no one will be around. No host, no guests, and no one at all. This is how I see my wedding, because I had a huge number of them. I'm being ironic, of course. I think that in this matter I will take into account not only my wishes. Of course, I would like to invite friends, hold a ceremony, observe traditions. But I do not understand people who pump some wild money into a wedding, take a loan for this, sell something. After all, the wedding is taking place, and people continue to live together. When and how did you write your first song?

- The very first song I wrote, being deeply and hopelessly in love with the first beauty of the class. The song turned out to be disgusting, by the way, so we did not succeed with the first beauty of the class. (Rodion smiles - ed.). The first comprehensible composition was the song "Why", which I came up with in my first year at the institute. A strange moment, they tried to arrange this song several times, and recorded it three times in the studio, but so far nothing has worked out. I absolutely do not like it in the studio version. Perhaps the time has not come yet. At concerts, however, it sounds gorgeous, and on a solo album in the Kremlin we sang it with Ksana Sergienko.

How did it happen that you did not finish your studies at the music school?

- At that time, my voice broke, I didn’t know if I wanted to make music, so my interest in the piano lost much of my interest in the karate section.

You studied at an English college, but wanted to return to Russia. What did you dislike in England then?

- At home I had my own space. He was not in England. At all. As an introvert, I really need a private corner where I will not be touched. Therefore, the private boarding school had absolutely no chance of liking me.

You are often asked about your relationship with your famous father, Oleg Gazmanov. What is your relationship with your mom?

- My relationship with my mother is excellent. She is very supportive of me, and this is very important to me. We often see each other, and even before her father she hears new songs or demo developments.

- It is believed that the divorce of the parents is traumatic for the child. How did their divorce affect you?

- Parents divorced when I was 13. Parents are the foundation of the world for a child. Naturally, the foundation at that moment gave a crack, from which I did not recover soon. This may well be the reason that I am still not married. I want it to be once and for all.

Showing respect and love cannot be excessive

Have you ever encountered unexpected antics of fans, with strange manifestations of love for you?

- I'm probably not that popular artist yet. I have very tactful people who come to concerts. Probably the most unrestrained is the lipstick left behind after concerts. They kissed, left traces. The backing vocalist then looks and shows during the concert (Rodion shows with a gesture that he needs to wipe his cheek - author's note). Well, wiped it off, and everything is fine. No, I am very good and grateful for the people who come to the concerts. And no display of respect and love on their part can be excessive. It is very important for me. Support is proof that I am successful in what I do.

At one time, your songs were not taken on the radio. How did this happen? What did the radio stations tell you?

- The most frequent word in the mouths of program directors is “non-format”. I understand them, in principle. At that time, the shadow of "Lucy", "Chimney sweep", "Mowgli" and other "Capless" hung over me.

And here we get cognitive dissonance. Songs in the memory of children were deposited, and the boy is already over thirty. Although for the first time I carried my material on the radio, by the way, somewhere at the age of twenty. First attempt, so to speak. I did not despair, and everything sent and sent in material. I managed to get to know the program directors of many radio stations, and despite my personal acquaintance, I never tried to convince them that the song was not suitable. I listened to advice and tried to figure out how to do better.

It almost happened with the song "The Last Snow". She played a couple of times a season on the big air, but there was no critical mass of rotations. Apparently, there was no time. The song "Gravity" became a breakthrough. It was staged on Russian Radio, and it won over the audience. Apparently, I liked the lines about "you are unlikely to hear this song, even on the radio, even in rotation." “Who is he to decide for us,” thought the program directors and, contrary to the meaning of the text, put the composition on the air. (Smiling - ed.).

The song "Couples" went much easier, although between "Gravitation" and "Couples" there was a whole series of compositions that also did not fit into the format. For example "Chance" and "Summer". A good video was shot for the latter, by the way, thanks to which the song could be heard on RuTV, Musicbox and other music TV channels. But the ice has already broken, and now, it is quite possible that those songs will also fall into rotation. "In pairs" was taken at the stage of the demo with a guitar. I walked through the program rooms, and they almost unanimously told me what to do. You see the result. The song is in the charts, and in particular in the first place of the "Golden Gramophone".

- You are a financier by training and you have good business experience. Is there a crisis in show business? In recent years, do people go to concerts less?

- New Year 2017 was quite challenging. Many artists have canceled or did not have performances at corporate parties because of this. I'm not an exception. But I am lucky that I also work as a presenter. Moreover, in Russian and English. Therefore, he did not remain without work. And orders for maintenance pull up orders for musical performances. And vice versa. Diversification is a good thing (Smiling - author's note).

The concert in the Kremlin is over. What are your future plans?

- Now I plan to rest.

After resting, I will go on tour. The program turned out to be good, and I want to show it to as many viewers as possible. While we are thinking about technical issues and the cities to which we will go first. As soon as there is something to announce, I will!
