Dmitry Koldun: "I like a relationship that ends with a wedding"

Over the past five years, Dmitry Koldun managed to take part in the projects "People's Artist", "Star Factory", "Two Stars", gave many concerts as part of the "factory" group "KGB", performed as an opening act for the Scorpions and entered the top five winners " Eurovision ". But his debut album, entitled "The Sorcerer", he released only in September this year, and without the help of the producer. Today Dmitry Koldun is in free float and takes his first steps as an independent artist.

Disagreed with the producer

Probably, for any artist, the release of a disc is a stage, summing up the results of his work. What have you summed up?

Naturally, any album is a summing up of a certain period of life. For me this album is a kind of experiment. This is my first independent work, and I tried to put all my emotions, feelings and experiences into it, tried to share what I have inside.

Dmitry Koldun, what goals are you currently setting for yourself as an artist and as a person?

The most important thing for me both in life and in my profession is movement forward, development. And the goals for each period of life are always different.

Probably, all artists have to make compromises: to perform songs that are not very close, to communicate with not very pleasant people. Does this sound familiar to you? Is it hard for you to follow the rules of show business?

It is impossible and unnecessary to go against all the rules of show business, especially since some of them are quite objective and fair. It's just that there are some basic points that I do not violate, it does not matter whether it relates to show business or simply to life situations, I am never hypocrite and exclude communication with those people who are truly unpleasant to me. As for the musical material, now I practically do not perform those songs that are not close to me in spirit. I play and sing what is consistent with my inner feelings, and this brings great joy.

Glory is not only a joy, but also a serious burden. Isn't it hard to carry this load?

Rather not hard. I understand that every medal has a flip side, and therefore I try to perceive everything adequately. It’s probably harder for people close to me. But we always deal with all difficult situations.

Dmitry Koldun, you recently parted ways with your producer. Was the path to such independence difficult, painful?

In order to come to the present, I had to wander the labyrinths for a very long time. Three years have passed since my arrival in Moscow, and now I began to work independently. Of course, some decisions that I made were very risky, maybe some of them were even erroneous and not timely, but all this is experience. And without this experience there would not have been the present that is now. As Pushkin said: "And experience, the son of difficult mistakes …" Therefore, everything that was done, all the decisions that were made and implemented, made me stronger.

At what turning point did you decide for yourself: I've had enough producers?

As such, there was no tipping point. There were some differences of opinion with the producer in terms of repertoire, image and other points. All this gradually accumulated and somehow led to thoughts that it was time to do something on my own.

- I'm a dog.

- Where did you spend your last vacation?

- On the Mediterranean.

- What is your psychological age?

- Sometimes it seems to me that I am a ten-year-old child, and sometimes I feel like an old man.

- What is your favorite aphorism?

- "Never say never"".

I know you used to play pretty heavy music. Was there any thought to continue advancing in this direction?

Unfortunately, in our country, heavy music is considered to be underground. Such groups are unlikely to perform at wildlife sanctuaries, corporate parties, and for Russian artists this is one of the main sources of income.

Devotion is the quality that I value

Dmitry Koldun, as far as I know, the producer demanded that you confirm your bachelor status in an interview, is that so?

Yes, indeed, there was a case, but I can quite understand such a request, since for a certain part of the fans, the artist's “family status” is not always desirable.

Do you think this is the correct pr move?

There is one truth once expressed by an ancient philosopher: "Everything secret sooner or later becomes apparent." Therefore, I am for honesty.

What is the ideal romance in your understanding - what is it?

In general, I don't really like the word "novel", since in my understanding it is something that ends sooner or later. But if you put the question this way, then I like that romance, the result of which is a wedding and a long and happy family life. My novel must necessarily contain the intensity of passions, quarrels, partings, the whole palette of emotions. This allows you to feel the depth of the relationship and leads to a better understanding of who is around.

As far as I know, your relationship with your girlfriend has been going on for many years. Are you monogamous? (Dmitry Koldun's girlfriend Vika lives in Minsk, where she studies at the Minsk Medical University as an epidemiologist - ed.)

I am an amorous person, but for me this has never become an obstacle to an honest and permanent relationship. Devotion is the quality that I value in people, and I myself adhere to it.

You and Vika started dating at school. Usually, growing up, people change a lot … Have you managed, having changed, not to change your feelings?

In any long-term relationship, in addition to the good, there are also black bars. The reason for some of them is the mismatch of views on life, on the relationships themselves, associated with a different pace of life, with different development.

Naturally, over time we become different, the perception of the world changes, a reassessment occurs, but when people worry about each other, they are interested in how each of them lives, then time has no power over them.

Now you have "love at a distance." Feelings do not cool down?

Volcanoes cool down, tea in a mug can cool down, but the heart never gets cold. (Laughs).

Dmitry Koldun, do you have a recipe for how to resist temptations (which artists have twice as many as mere mortals)?

There is no recipe. I just don't want to hurt anyone. If I were free floating, then I would succumb to temptations.

What quality in a woman is the most important for you?

The most important thing in a woman is probably kindness. In general, I appreciate this quality in all people. He is a good-natured person himself, which sometimes interferes, and it is very difficult for me to communicate with evil and envious people.

Is it difficult to build relationships in public?

Yes, it's very hard.

What children's fairy tale about love seems to you the most vital and real?

Yes, there are a lot of such fairy tales, but for me the most striking example is probably "Kochetok and Chicken". For the sake of a loved one, I am ready to do everything, like the same chicken from the fairy tale that saved the cockerel. (Smiles).

Sadness turns into notes and words

As far as I understand, you live alone in Moscow. Does the feeling of loneliness overwhelm you?

Overcomes. There are tides of sadness, but it helps me in my creativity. At such moments, I most often sit on the balcony, look at the city lights, at the flashing yellow traffic light, which is just opposite my window, and surrender to my inner feelings. And all my sorrow turns into notes and words. And, on the other hand, without feeling loneliness, you will not feel the full joy of communication.

It turns out that you are a couch potato. What do you usually do at home when there are no special things to do?

Always different. I compose music more often, and just recently I started writing lyrics to songs. I look into my blogs and upload information there, sometimes I smoke cigars, and, of course, I clean up from time to time. (Laughs).

Do you go to parties, parties?

I go sometimes and only to those events where I might be interested. I don’t go just to check in or appear in the gossip - this is not mine.

Dmitry Koldun, do you often deny yourself something?

It happens sometimes. I would like to be at home more often, where my relatives and friends are waiting for me, but I have to deny myself this due to the tight schedule.

If you want to pamper yourself, what do you do?

Oh, here I will answer without hesitation: sleep! With my rhythm of life, I can only dream about it, and such pampering happens very rarely, unfortunately.
