Summer is coming - it's time to take care of yourself. Although the seasonality of this problem is relative. Unfortunately, only in the spring we begin to think about our figure, the condition of the skin not only of the face, but of the whole body, smooth legs. But this should be part of your daily self-care, regardless of the season.

First of all, excess hair is an aesthetic problem. The smooth skin of the legs, in the armpits and bikini area is another fashion whim, but a whim so firmly established in the mind that it has already become a rule of good form. And here modern methods come to the aid of women - do epilation, allowing you to almost completely get rid of excess hair.

Which way to deal with unnecessary hair to choose depends on several factors: health status, financial capabilities, habits and stereotypes, goals. But in any case, it is worth knowing about all the options that are on the market today.

There are not so many ways to remove hair. The main ones have been known since ancient times. These are temporary methods, or depilation, - all kinds of plucking, pulling (modern version - razors and epilators), resins and waxes. Each of these methods has its own indications, features and disadvantages, but the main disadvantage is a short-term effect.

Ten years ago, there was only one way do epilation until the complete destruction of unwanted hair - electrolysis. This is a method of destroying the follicle with an electrical discharge using special needles. Method for the patient - the procedure is very painful and time-consuming. Several sessions are required with an interval of 1, 5-2 months. However, she promises to solve the hair problem completely and irrevocably. The qualifications of a specialist are very important here, since the procedure sometimes causes complications in the form of scars and skin inflammation.

Several years ago, a boom in laser hair removal began, and after it, photoepilation came to the market. Both techniques have appeared relatively recently: laser hair removal a little over ten years, photoepilation - about six. Like any innovation, both methods have both their enthusiastic admirers and skeptical critics. And both cannot be called purely cosmetic services. Therefore, it is better to carry out these procedures in specialized medical clinics, where you will be provided with all the necessary services at the highest level.

Laser hair removal

This is the destruction of hair using laser radiation. The method arose by chance: when using a laser to remove tattoos, a slowdown in hair growth in the affected area was found. The observation prompted scientists to further research, which led to the creation of a laser for hair removal.

Unlike electrolysis, laser hair removal does not require the destruction of each bulb separately: several follicles die in the area of the beam.

Patients are also warned about the side effects of laser hair removal. These are the same consequences that accompany other procedures using a laser: dyspigmentation, redness, local erythema, edema. They usually go away within three days.

It is not recommended to stay in the sun for several weeks after the procedure.

When choosing an epilation method, you should pay attention to the opinion of experts: laser hair removal is ideal for removing dark hair on fair skin, it is well suited for removing hair on the face, bikini area and armpits, the laser is especially successful for removing vellus hair. By the way, there is scientific research that perspiration decreases in these areas after laser hair removal.

Photoepilation

This is the effect on the hair follicles with an intense stream of flash lamp light, as a result of which the follicle is destroyed and the hair falls out. Photoepilation emerged as a continuation and development of the laser hair removal method. With photoepilation, the radiation energy and pulse duration are selected based on the individual characteristics of the patient's skin and hair. The main unique advantage of this method is the ability to remove hair of any color and structure on all skin types.

There are practically no contraindications to photoepilation. This procedure is not recommended for patients with diabetes mellitus, people with increased photosensitivity, acute and chronic skin diseases. Pregnancy is a relative contraindication.

The procedure is practically painless, some patients feel a tingling sensation, but it goes away very quickly. The great advantage of photoepilation is speed and convenience. For example, a business woman can come in the morning to remove her hair and then calmly go to work. Epilation of legs with this method takes a maximum of one and a half hours (for comparison, laser hair removal - up to 6 hours).

Whichever way do epilation you have not chosen, remember the main thing: this procedure must be performed by a professional. No matter how perfect the technique is, the skill of the hands of a doctor or beautician plays a huge role.
