4. Tula, Kaliningrad, Kurgan operate in a similar way to the St. Petersburg version: the lineup - September 1, and studies - from Monday. These regions find it appropriate to celebrate on a weekend.

Moscow decided in its own way

The starting date of the school year is not always associated with the Day of Knowledge. Last year's discussions on this topic by State Duma deputies are still remembered by Russians. Then there were calls to arbitrarily shift the beginning of the school and student educational process and hold it almost until October 1. This debate has remained just loud statements.

However, there are coincidences that force you to shift the beginning of classes. So, last 2017, the Moscow government moved it from Friday September 1 to Monday September 4.

The reason for this was the imposition of the Day of Knowledge on the celebration of Eid al-Adha, important for Muslims. This was a sign of respect for the religious holiday, and was accepted with understanding.

In 2018, there were no significant coincidences, but the Moscow authorities, taking into account the five-day schedule of classes for the capital's schoolchildren, decided to attribute the celebrations and studies to the beginning of the working week on September 3. Taking into account the difficulties of moving around the capital, one can understand the rationality of such a verdict: few of the residents would take their children to school for the sake of a half-hour event.
