The onset of the New Year for some countries does not mean a vacation that allows you to fully relax or arrange a short trip. In the Russian Federation, the duration of this beloved holiday has gradually increased. Now the working population of Russia is studying what the New Year holidays of 2022 will be, how many days we rest, because this holiday is considered special for everyone. The duration of the holidays depends on how the holidays and weekends are arranged.

Scheduling

Every year in the middle of autumn, a preliminary draft of the production calendar is prepared, on which the duration of rest for all national holidays depends, the postponement of the weekend that coincided with them in the week, the decision on when they will be compensated to the workers. The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy decides how convenient and justified it is to postpone the weekend to other months. The government signs the draft calendar after a tripartite agreement: the state, trade unions and the employers' association.

The media published a preliminary answer of the Head of the relevant department to the question of how many days we rest in Russia for the New Year holidays in 2022. Key points:

Interesting! When does Spring Break 2022 begin for schoolchildren?

  • the duration of the New Year's holidays will be 10 days, but only because they will also include Friday, December 31;
  • in the coming year, workers will rest from January 1 to 9;
  • the prime minister of Russia has already signed a decree to postpone the rest from January 2, Sunday, to Friday, December 31;
  • Labor Minister A. Kotyakov said that the department will develop amendments to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation on behalf of the president, according to which the last day of the old year will finally become non-working and will allow to fully prepare for the onset of the holiday.

A year ago, when the last day of the outgoing year was less convenient, the transfer at the national level was not included in the preparations for it. However, the independence given to the regions in resolving some issues led to the announcement of his additional days off for the New Year holidays. Statistics showed that such a decision was made by the majority of the subjects of the federation.

Some news outlets commented on this message: the draft law was already submitted for consideration 2 years ago, but was rejected by the government on the grounds that you can always use the transfer, which is legally approved in the regulatory documents. Now the issue has been raised again and is awaiting its resolution in the form of an appropriate amendment to the Labor Code.

Length of rest period

Many Russians use long weekends for short trips, visits to relatives, often over long distances. This makes the question relevant when is the first working day after celebrating the New Year. The final version will be presented to the attention of workers after the government signs the production calendar.

The preliminary draft contains the following information:

  • January 31 days, of which 15 days off and 16 workers;
  • 1 and 2 fall on Saturday and Sunday, as well as 8 and 9;
  • in the month there are 5 Saturdays and the same number of Sundays, hence the approximate balance between working days and rest time.

The preliminary draft provides for the transfer of Saturday, January 1, to May holidays, and Sunday, January 2, to celebrate Victory Day.

Interesting! OGE will be canceled in 2022 or not

In some sources, you can find mention of the postponement of the weekend from New Year's holidays in 2021 to the last day of December. But in this case, it turns out that the Russians lose one day off, which is not compensated in any way. It's about Saturday, January 8th. It refers to the New Year holidays in accordance with the regulations approved by the Labor Code. But in the same article of the TC it is said about the possibility of transferring only 2 days from this period, therefore, the transfer of Sunday to Monday, the 10th, does not work. It is possible to compensate only on January 1 and 2 - Saturday and Sunday.

This means that according to the draft resolution, the Russians will have to go to work on January 10, and no other changes are expected without amending Article 112 of the Labor Code. Experts note that such a provision is extremely rare, and it is unlikely that for the sake of it amendments will be made to the current labor legislation.
