As experts from Germany have found out, eating chocolate in combination with a low-carb diet is a fairly effective way to lose weight.
The researchers conducted an experiment, divided volunteers aged 19-67 into three groups. The first group followed a low-carb diet. The other followed a low-carb diet and ate 42 grams of dark chocolate daily (with 81% cocoa). The representatives of the third group, the control group, followed their usual diet.
When choosing chocolate, nutritionists usually advise to be guided by two basic principles of nutrition - variety and moderation. Chocolate - both dark and milky - is high in calories, sugar and fat. In addition, cocoa rich in flavonoids can be found in sweets, cocoa powder and desserts.
The study found that both groups on the low-carb diet lost weight, with those who also ate chocolate lost an average of 10 percent more weight. As you know, chocolate contains a lot of biologically active compounds, including flavonoids - plant substances that are beneficial to health. And it is flavonoids that, according to the researchers, contribute to some degree of weight loss.
At the same time, the head of the scientific group Johannes Bohannon warned that it is not enough to eat chocolate separately, but it should be used in combination with other products.
