The biography of Sergei Furgal is full of various events in both political and personal life. The ex-governor of the Khabarovsk Territory managed to get a medical education and even worked as a doctor for some time, then went into business, and then suddenly switched to politics.

Family and childhood

Sergei Ivanovich Furgal was born on February 12, 1970 in the Amur Region (Poyarkovo village) and was already the last (tenth) child in the family.

Ivan Kirillovich (father) - an adherent of the ideas of communism, military by profession, participated in military operations against Japan, from where he returned with many awards. In peacetime he worked as a driver.

Nadezhda Furgal (mother) is a deeply religious person who worked in agriculture. Having raised ten children (6 girls and 4 boys), she earned the title of "Mother Heroine".

The political biography of the ex-governor started in the mid-2000s, when he was elected a deputy of the regional parliament. From that moment on, Sergei was closely involved in politics and more than once took part in the elections, where he invariably won.

Since 2007, he has been a member of the lower house of the Federal Assembly, where he was elected as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. According to some information, in parallel, the official was actively arranging his personal life and already had two children.

Until 2011, Furgal served as deputy chairman of the Committee for Federation Affairs and Regional Policy. At the same time, he was re-elected to the new composition of the lower house, and in the fall of 2016 he became deputy chairman of the health protection committee.

Furgal won a landslide victory in the elections of the governor in the fall of 2018 and became the head of the Khabarovsk Territory.
