Dramas
Big Little Lies
At a charity ball at the school, a murder takes place, but the name of the victim is unknown. The plot follows the months leading up to the incident and focuses on five families whose children are in the same class. All these families are mysteriously linked to the murder …
Big Little Lies is a gripping and convoluted series with top-tier actors. The brilliant Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman did not leave indifferent even the most severe critics. Worldwide, the series received a 7.5 out of 10. And the producers have already announced the development of a second season.
Good Doctor
The series follows Sean Murphy, a young surgeon diagnosed with autism and savant syndrome from a small town where he spent an unhappy childhood. He moves and gets a job in the prestigious surgical department of the San Bonaventure Hospital in San Jose. He uses his innate talent to save patients' lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues.
What could be better than a medical drama? Especially if the main role is Freddie Highmore. The boy, who was known to everyone for his role in the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", grew up and became a real handsome man.
The series itself was based on the 2013 Korean TV series of the same name.
Laugh
Psychologists
Graduates of the Faculty of Psychology, Tanya, Vika and Alina, 10 years after graduation, decide to apply the knowledge gained in practice, helping themselves and those around them to become truly happy.
The actors of the series carefully prepared for their roles, as Sofia Kashtanova admits: “Before filming in the series, I knew some terms, but some were new to me. I can't say that I was closely involved in psychology, but I talked with my friend, a psychologist, she helped me to understand all the intricacies of the profession."
Crazy ex
Rebecca Bunch is a Yale and Harvard graduate and a successful lawyer working for a large New York firm. One day she receives an offer for a raise. On the same day, Rebecca accidentally encounters her first love from summer camp - Josh Chen. Rebecca, in search of her happiness, decides to return her ex-boyfriend by all means. The third season of the series will be released in October this year.
"This musical series is much more than just a witty comedy, because its main character suffers from many problems familiar to modern people: among them - depression, codependency, attempts to escape responsibility," - said Maureen Ryan, critic of the American edition of Variety.
Historical
Optimists
The author of "The Thaw" and "Hipsters" Valery Todorovsky again turned to the theme of the Soviet sixties and produced the series "Optimists". The series tells about Soviet diplomats in the 1960s. Georgy Biryukov, a specialist in Germany, was guilty of his homeland and was sent from the international department of the CPSU Central Committee to a small department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Now he works in the information and analytical group, which consists entirely of representatives of the golden youth, the happy owners of the experience of life abroad. The guys should explain to Soviet diplomats those subtleties of the Western mentality that no MGIMO professor will ever tell them about.
The recreated atmosphere of the 60s will amaze the audience with great attention to detail. Even the actors were intrigued.
“I was incredibly amazed at the scale of the filming. When I arrived at Mosfilm, I saw that a spire of the Foreign Ministry's skyscraper was built in a huge pavilion. With round corridors, large windows …”- admitted the actor Vladimir Vdovichenkov.
Trotsky
The story of the fate of one of the most striking and controversial figures of the early twentieth century, Leon Trotsky. Lenin's companion and organizer of the October Revolution becomes the personal enemy of the new Soviet leader, Stalin. Even abroad, Trotsky cannot hide from the sent assassins. After the first assassination attempt, he invites his ideological opponent, a journalist, to leave a will-confession about what he had done and experienced: from childhood in a wealthy Jewish family to revolutionary activities, participation in the building of the Soviet Union and Stalin's disgrace.
The world premiere of the series took place on the international TV market in Cannes, which became the flagship event of the Russian Content Revolution exhibition.
In Russia, the series aired on Channel One, which surpassed all TV channels in terms of ratings during the show. And the main decoration for the audience was Konstantin Khabensky in the role of Trotsky.
New seasons
"Game of Thrones" (season 7)
After Daenerys defeats the Sons of the Harpy in Slaver's Bay, she, along with her retinue and the Greyjoys, travels to Westeros and lands on Dragonstone. Cersei, who has declared herself queen, is trying to rule over the remaining parts of the kingdom in her hands. Arya Stark returns to Winterfell, avenging his mother and brother Frey in Gemini on the way. Daenerys allies with Elaria Sand and Olena Tyrell, who wants revenge on Cersei for killing her family in the great sept of Baylor. King of the North, Jon Snow, gathers an army against the Others and, having learned about dragons, turns to Daenerys for help.
Perhaps one of the long-awaited premieres of the year was the new season of Game of Thrones. Unlike previous seasons, it consists of 7 episodes instead of 10. But fans shouldn't be upset. The budget for each episode has become significantly higher, which means that the episodes have become more exciting and with more CGI. Season 7 was filmed in Spain and Croatia, while scenes in the North, on the Wall and beyond the Wall took place in cold Iceland. Unfortunately, the creators have already announced that season 8 will be released only in 2019. Therefore, fans have time to revisit all seven seasons.
Sherlock (season 4)
In 2017, a new season of the British TV series about Sherlock Holmes was released. The world famous detective with his friend Dr. Watson again takes on mysterious and strange cases. In the new season, a new insidious villain appears - Calverton Smith. It is he who is confronted by the detective throughout the fourth season.
The creators of the series admitted that for this season they had to collect information for the episodes literally bit by bit. For example, the "Six Thatcher" series may refer to the story "Six Napoleons" by Arthur Conan Doyle.
