Most parents are calm about a child's cold - just think, snot! - but he is not as harmless as it seems at first glance.

For almost a month now, little Misha has not attended kindergarten. Instead of entertainment with peers, there is a physical room, and walks replace weekly trips to the lore. It all started with a banal rhinitis. It was windy that day with rain and snow. Either Misha got his feet wet, or he just froze, but he didn't say anything to his grandmother. We found out about this only the next morning, when a runny nose appeared. “Just think, snot, we'll drip drops for a couple of days, and everything will pass,” my mother decided. A week later, the discharge from the nose became less, only their character changed - the mucus became thick, yellow-green, painful sensations appeared when pressing on the cheekbones. On top of that, my ear ached. At the reception, the doctor diagnosed acute sinusitis and eustachitis. Mother's surprise knew no bounds: how could it be, because her son had a common cold!

Here's the point. When a baby has a "runny nose" - this is a good sign! With the discharge of mucus, viruses and toxins are removed from the body. And if the mucus stagnates, becomes thick, an inflammatory process begins in the sinuses, which as a result leads to acute sinusitis!

Children's rhinitis should be treated in the early stages of its manifestation, not to mention the protracted one

As a rule, ear pains appear after a runny nose. The auditory (Eustachian) tube connecting the nasopharynx with the middle ear is shorter and wider in babies than in an adult, so infections penetrate here faster. As a result, the tube swells, blocks the exit from the tympanic cavity, causing pain, a feeling of stuffiness in the ear. If the inflammation is not treated, then it can turn into otitis media, which in turn threatens with partial hearing loss.

Therefore, children's rhinitis should be treated at the first stages of its manifestation, not to mention the protracted one! Remove accumulated mucus in the nasal passages with an aspirator. If the child is over four years old, make sure that he cleans his nose correctly: blow out each nostril separately, opening his mouth. This will help prevent bacteria and viruses from entering the Eustachian tube, which connects the ear to the nose. It is important to remember that with severe nasal congestion, you can blow your nose only after instilling vasoconstrictor drugs.

For the treatment of lingering rhinitis, it is recommended to use herbal medicines, they are well tolerated and not addictive.

One of the most effective remedies that have positively proven themselves in the treatment of lingering rhinitis and sinusitis is the herbal medicine Sinupret®. It loosens mucus, relieves inflammation and reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa.

In addition, the drug is available in the form of drops for oral administration and does not require manipulations, which are often negatively perceived by babies: rinsing the nose and taking bitter mixtures.

It contains 5 active herbal ingredients, each of which affects a specific problem:

- gentian root - enhances bronchial secretion;

- verbena - has a positive effect on the body's defenses, also has an expectorant, antipyretic, secretolytic effect;

- sorrel - stimulates the body's defenses and has an antibacterial effect;

- elderberry flowers - provide anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, secretolytic action;

- primrose flowers - fight directly with the cause of the disease due to the antiviral and antibacterial effect.

Unlike vasoconstrictor drops, the drug is not addictive, does not irritate the child's nasal mucosa, so it can be used for more than 10 days without fear of side effects. The use of Sinupret® eliminates the need to buy several products for the treatment and prevention of a lingering rhinitis, reduces the drug load on the body, which is especially important in treating a child.
