The funeral of a loved one (especially in Moscow) is one of the most expensive items of expenditure, so the state is trying to help the relatives of the deceased organize a decent farewell to the deceased. As a rule, the burial allowance in 2021 is established for certain categories of citizens in a certain amount.

Who can qualify for benefits

Compensation is made only to the citizen who directly incurred the financial costs associated with the burial and the holding of the farewell ceremony. In this case, it does not matter at all whether the person is a relative of the deceased person.

Exceptions apply only to additional payments provided from the regional budget. There are some restrictions regarding the degree of relationship and other conditions.

Relatives of a pensioner or a rehabilitated citizen who did not work at the time of death, as well as an officially registered unemployed person, have the right to use the “Social funeral” program (at the expense of the state).

In such a situation, one can expect to receive a free service for the installation of a gravestone worth no more than 3,200 rubles, but the payment of a burial allowance will be denied.

The installation of a gravestone in 2021 for military personnel and veterans of hostilities is compensated in the amount of 35,171 rubles, for veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War - 28,178 rubles.

Residents of Moscow who are engaged in the burial of disabled people of I-III groups are also entitled to compensation in the amount of 3,300 rubles for the installation of a tombstone.

Distant relatives, as well as strangers who took care of the disabled person until the moment of his death, can count on compensation for the costs of providing medical care, but only if the person died of illness.
