The funeral of a loved one (especially in Moscow) is one of the most expensive items of expenditure, so the state is trying to help the relatives of the deceased organize a decent farewell to the deceased. As a rule, the burial allowance in 2021 is established for certain categories of citizens in a certain amount.
Who can qualify for benefits
Compensation is made only to the citizen who directly incurred the financial costs associated with the burial and the holding of the farewell ceremony. In this case, it does not matter at all whether the person is a relative of the deceased person.
Exceptions apply only to additional payments provided from the regional budget. There are some restrictions regarding the degree of relationship and other conditions.
The allowance can be issued and received only once within six months from the date of death. The state will provide financial assistance in organizing the funeral of the following categories of citizens:
- persons officially registered as unemployed;
- people with disabilities;
- persons of retirement age who did not have a job at the time of death;
- home front workers and participants in the Great Patriotic War;
- illegally repressed persons;
- persons who participated in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant;
- full-time students;
- parents or other relatives in the event of the death of a minor.
