Story line

It's 1972. Smart car thief Harry Barber loves expensive cars, speed and actor Steve McQueen. In his free time from dashing driving through the streets of his hometown, the guy helps his uncle Enzo Rotello to carry out various dark affairs.

In turn, Enzo simply hates President Nixon, and he has plenty of reasons to hate. The head of the gang believes that the politician is destroying the country with the Vietnam War, doing dirty deeds and stealing money from unfortunate Americans.

At the same time, people like Rotello are considered a bandit, and Nixon calmly rules the country. How could Enzo refuse to take revenge on the president with such a spirit? No way! In addition, it becomes known from reliable sources that Nixon keeps neither more nor less than 30 million dirty money and bonds in one of the small banks.

The only thing left is to assemble a reliable team and rob the president of the country. Only trusted people should handle the business, and the five brave robbers, of course, include Harry Barber and his brother, who went through Vietnam, Tommy.

Meanwhile, we are transported to 1980, in which Harry Barber, aka Steve McQueen, decides years later to make a confession of what he had done, and at the same time to tell his girlfriend that he is completely different from the person she knew for seven years.

Will Molly, Harry's beloved, be able to believe in a fantastic detective story told to her by a man she believed she knew like the back of her hand? How could he for seven years so skillfully hide from her, the sheriff's daughter, such a mere trifle - that he is wanted, and his case is being conducted by the best people of the FBI?

Well, and finally the last question - can she forgive and accept him, like Harry Barber, the man who committed one of the most daring crimes in American history? The answers can be found only by watching the crime drama from cover to cover.

The audience will find a daring robbery, colorful characters, subtle humor, bright flashbacks, well-worked details showing the peculiarities of the time, and, of course, the love story of a “beauty and a bully”.

A little about the cast

The magnificent Travis Fimmel, who played the brutal Ragnar in the Vikings series, once again proved that he is a versatile actor. Harry Barber in his performance is a charming guy who captivates at first sight. I must say that in this role, Travis is very similar to Jude Law.

The beloved of the protagonist was played by Rachel Taylor, she skillfully managed to transform into a slightly insane and flamboyant sheriff's daughter. When her character talks about her favorite film "Bonnie and Clyde", the viewer will involuntarily want to revisit this picture with Faye Dunaway - the heroine presents information so "deliciously".

As for the secondary cast of actors, he is in no way inferior: William Fichtner, Louis Lombardi, Forest Whitaker and Jake Weary, familiar to many viewers from his participation in the series Law & Order. Special Corps "- all of them are, as they say, in their place and play the characters one hundred percent.

Output

The film, of course, should appeal to fans of Ocean's Eleven (by the way, the picture is mentioned in Steve McQueen, and very much to the point) and fans of similar projects about robberies, as well as fans of the 70-80s style.

It is also necessary to clarify that "The President's Robbery" is based on real events. And in order to find out how the life of the main character developed after the events described, it is worth watching the picture before the final credits.
